Lost - Season Three

Well most plausible theory was the crash was faked, and they were brought to the island to repopulate. The crash site would have had to be in response to them crashing on the island (the others saw the plane go down, we know why the plane went down).

The clone theory is pretty out there, IMO. A cover up is much more likely.

Just to head this off at the past.

No, everyone's not dead. The island is not limbo, purgatory, or hell. Let's not go there. Someone on the outside, obviously with a lot of power, put out the media story that the plane had been found with no survivors, so that no one would go looking for them. Now that they're on the island, someone doesn't want anyone finding the island, or any of the crash survivors.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. It explains a lot of things logically (but not everything e.g. the mystery and charm of the island).

Oh and the sperm count being 5 times more on the island. Talk about getting a home run every time :p

So so episode, but still enjoyed it. Shame we didn't know what happened to patchy and why did he want the phone? So did Juliet know about suns pregnancy? and why does she want Kate's?

I think its possible that this Jacob must of created another crash site so that they would never find this island.

Also the producers said that they will never use the word Clone

The Brig - Promo

Isn't it obvious via Desmond?

They're living in an altered timeline. Ever watch the movie Donnie Darko? It's similar to that imo.

Donnie Darko:

A jet engine falls on donnie while he sleeps. He temporarily teleports into an alternate reality continuing as if he survived what would have been probable death. In this alternate reality he get's to live life to it's fullest (not without the regular trials and tribulations of any other life though) once he succeeds at getting laid and is at peace, he teleports back to the day the Jet Engine falls on him, and willingly accepts his fate. THE END

EDIT: In Donnie Darko, when Donnie makes the flip, there's a certain fascination the director had with an "eye" similar to Lost focusing on character's eyes.

Didn't the producers come out and say that everything can be explained logically? Although a good theory I'm not sure if this fits.

As much as I would love this to be true, I have never seen that confirmed. I mean, the whole smoke monster thing alone seems pretty impossible to explain.

Exactly, remember when that girlfriend of Desmond(spelling?) had a team searching for him and noticed a massive EMP pulse when the hatch exploded, so yes they are not dead or the island is not Purgatory, the plane deaths were just a cover up so that people will not start looking for any survivors.

The explanation I have is that the others put a burnt out plane somewhere between the 2 destinations with bodies in there and they claim its found thats why no help has arrived...they want these people who were on that plane to possibly repopulate the Island because they aren't immortal tho if Patchy can rise so could others...

Does anyone know what Naomi said to Patchy when he was saving her? Apparently it was portuguese.

I'm interesting in that too. The part were she said something, and Mikhail hesitated and said "She said "Thank you". Kinda seemed like she could have said something else.

I agree, and unless she was speaking something other than Italian to him (which they had been speaking in earlier), then she definetely said something else.

From Lostpedia:

"She actually said: "Eu n?o estou s?" which is Portuguese (with a Brazilian accent). It means: "I am not alone"."

Hayden Panettiere is Hot in your sig... :)

Anyway, yeah that's interesting, more of them... probably show up in the End of Season Finale?

Yeah I would think that they will turn up near the finale...strange shes Portuguese just like the outpost people in the arctic...

Just a silly side note. Strange how Jin's mother asked for $100,000 dollars and not 900 million won. In Korea, they use Won and the exchange rate is about 900 Won to the dollar. As the largest currency note available is 10,000 Won, then the envelope would have to be considerably larger and not fit in her purse.

I guess the producers took a little liberty with this... ;)

Very interesting. Is that why Patchy tried to steel the "iphone" so he could communicate with the other people.

I think Mikhail was telling the truth back in the flame when he said the others wouldn't let him leave, and he wanted to.

It didn't have to be money. It could have been bank notes.

No, it's USD.

She said "100 Thousand Dollars" - and I'm sure a huge company like her dad's has that kind of cash - In USD too.

Great episode. To the people still b!tching: what is it that you want? Constant non-stop action? Go watch Jackie Chan instead. Or Chuck Norris. Or Jack Bauer. Or Clint Eastwood. Leave LOST the way it is! :)

I like Mikhail - do you think Des had a flashback about him? We don't see Des flashbacks except in Des-centric episodes....

Interesting bit about Juliet and Sun.... So anyone that has sex pretty much gets the chick pregnant?

*DUH*

That explains the focus on showing who has sex with whom in past episodes!

(Some people and I were asking if they HAD to show every single person "making babies")

I wonder what Ben is trying to do here.

How can the samples from the losties' women differ from those of the others who had sex on the island? it's the same thing, right?

Especially with "Austen" - no doubt there, since they saw her on Camera and all.

I think that explains EVERYTHING about the captivity.

Put Jack inside. Lock Kate and Sawyer outside. Let Kate think you don't know she's escaping from her cell. Threaten Sawyer to death. Make Kate jump his bones == Make more babies!

Sun + Jin was an obvious one.

Claire & Charlie next maybe??

@episode: no way. He said that at first, then he told Locke and Kate: "we both know I'm lying, lets get to the point" or something to that effect.

    • That lens of history will burn if you hold it at the right angle... Warn users too late: Shame, Microsoft! That extremely minor update to an obscure Control Panel widget required 2 years of warning. Warn users too early: Shame, Microsoft! We've got better things to do. Pipeline and process be damned, we'll just always be disappointed, eh?
    • Microsoft Paint used to be my favorite Windows app as a kid, and it's still pretty good by Usama Jawad I have been using Windows since the early 2000s, when I was around 10 years old or so. I vaguely remember playing around with Windows 98 and Windows 2000, but that may have been on school PCs which had old operating systems installed. My main OS on the home PC, and the one I recall spending most time with, was Windows XP. At that time, I used the home PC to create Word and PowerPoint documents for school, but a lot of the time, I simply used it to play games. My dad would bring game discs which we would try and install on the PC, sometimes unsuccessfully, and sometimes, we would rely on flash games in the browser, like Bubble Trouble on Miniclip. However, the problem with the latter approach was the internet speed. On a good day, our dial-up internet would offer us speeds of 56 kbps, but on most days, it was closer to 33 kbps. This did not facilitate online gaming as I would often have to wait minutes for a game to load or "draw" on the screen, and trying to download pirated games wasn't simple either. I remember getting tired of waiting for online games to load and just downloading simulator games from the Big Fish Games website instead, only to be disappointed after finding out that I was just being given access to trial versions of the title, and I needed to fork out money to pay for the full version. All of this is to say that it wasn't very easy to find entertainment options on the home PC when I was a kid, due to a number of reasons, mostly outside of my control. This situation pushed me towards a rather unconventional ally: Microsoft Paint. Whenever the internet wasn't working as good as I expected, I would simply spin up Paint and draw complete rubbish on the canvas. Of course, that wasn't always the intention, but it usually happened when I messed up drawing a straight line or something, and then I would give up on that particular piece and simply draw a random collection of objects. Microsoft Paint was extremely accessible and easy to use. Even if you weren't an artist, you could quickly understand the tools at your disposal and how to leverage them on a canvas. The absolute breadth on offer ensured that each painting was truly unique, as you could utilize various combinations of tools like the pencil, paint, spray paint, and more to truly personalize your creation. Since I wasn't particularly good at drawing both on digital screen or a physical screen, I remember that my main style of art would be to insert a bunch of randomly intersecting lines and then fill them with random colors through the paint can. I have trying to replicate that art style in the latest version of Paint below, and as you can see, it's truly Pablo Picasso-esque. The human imagination truly knows no bounds Microsoft Paint kept me occupied for hours and was my best friend when video games on the home PC were inaccessible for one reason or the other. There was no academic or professional reason for which I would need to use Paint, but I still loved using it in my personal time, even if what I created wasn't worth being shown to anyone. It was simply fun. Fast-forward to today, and the situation is mostly the same. Now that I am almost 29 years old, and I still have no reason to use Microsoft Paint in a professional capacity. In fact, I don't even use it in a personal capacity, except to dabble with it from time to time, just to see if core functionalities are still intact. And I'm happy to say that I think Microsoft Paint still offers the same accessibility and inviting experience that it did to me a couple of decades ago, even though its UX has been refreshed and it's been integrated with Copilot features. Interestingly, things could have been a lot different, had Microsoft had its way. Microsoft Paint was marked for deprecation with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update in 2017, and even began displaying a product retirement alert, urging customers to shift to Paint 3D instead. Fortunately, after consumer backlash, Microsoft reversed course on this decision, and Paint continues to be a native app inside Windows installations that can also be updated quite frequently through the Microsoft Store. Instead, Paint 3D ended up on the chopping block, which is for the better, I think. I have intermittently played around with Microsoft's refreshed Paint experience in the past few years, and I do think it has received worthwhile upgrades. the UI and the UX has been modernized while retaining core functionality, and the app is still fairly easy to use. It doesn't meet any of my use-cases, but I've never really had any use-cases ever, as described previously. Of course, the elephant in the room is the Copilot integration. Personally, I believe that this is one place where Copilot does make sense, environmental concerns aside. I know that a lot of creatives use AI to generate images, and while some may be using professional alternatives, Paint still offers a decent casual experience, with the power of Copilot. Of course, you do need to have a valid Microsoft 365 Copilot license and available credits to use it, but even if you don't, you still get the big Copilot button in the toolbar, unfortunately. All in all, I am glad that Microsoft Paint continues to be a native feature in Windows 11, and a piece of software that has evolved to meet modern needs without cutting off its own roots. It's just an iconic piece of Windows history that was an essential part of my childhood, and while I don't use it anymore, I'm just glad it is still there.

    • Hopefully this will fix the issue of no sound I have since last months stupid, and non-removable, Microsoft Corporation AudioProcessingObject Driver Update (1.0.3.56670)
    • It IS confusing! What channel are you in on each device? I'm guessing your 16GB device is on Experimental (formerly known as Dev) and your 128GB is on Beta.
