Lost - Season Three

Recommended Posts

It seems youre a couple episodes behind the latest episode and our discussion, becareful of the spoilers in here.

He did start a thread about the episode but a mod moved it here...so thats why he is so far behind...

the new girl isn't portuguese nor brazillian native

she says 'eu n?o estou s?' very artificially, but i could be wrong

she looks like that girl from Las Vegas

edit: she was from las vegas.. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0859720/

Yeah she played such a British character in Las Vegas I really thought she couldn't pull off a Portuguese or any foreigner at that...

Read this over at Dark's site, its a rumour at the moment. Its about Charlie...

Further confirmation of Charlie's demise

Please, have a look at the cast that will be part in every episode of Lost:

Episode 19: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0992243/

Episode 20: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0992244/

Episode 21: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0998660/

Episode 22/23: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1004798/

Charlie is not included in the last episode.

Being the last episode of the season it is supposed that if Charlie were alive he would be at least in one of the scenes.

Will be true the rumours of his death? Will he sacrifice himself for the rest of the survivors? Will he die electrocuted trying to connect the sonar as we could see in the promo 3x17?

Non Charlie spoiler

By the way, Kiele Sanchez, will be on episode 3x21

:D :p

is all the cast in the final episode?

for example, bernard isn't dead i don't even remember the last time i saw him

other main characters may have been left out also

Usually all the main cast are in the finale. Just have to wait for the ABC press release for it in about 2 weeks time.

Can someone remind me what happened to bernard and his wife?

They are just in the background somewhere...I am sure they will pop up again but theres me hoping there is no more and I mean no more flashbacks for them!!!!

I really miss them myself. I wouldn't mind another flashback episode for them. I really liked their story, they had some of the better filler episodes IMO.

Yeah I agree with that but if I had to rate the flasback episode with worse at the top it would be....

1. Rose/Bernard

2. Latest Jack One or any to be honest.

3. Nikki/Paulo

4. Latest Sun/Jin one

hoping there is no more and I mean no more flashbacks for them!!!!

In a podcast they said

There was a good Rose/Bernard story coming up, chance are that will be involved with flashback

The flashbacks may be interesting once in a while, but they are fillers in general. LOST would be much more interesting if there were half as many flashbacks.

I think some episodes we really dont need Flashbacks...just the action...theres action happening and what happens we go to a flashback...

Half of Lost is flashbacks. They're not going anywhere, so I suggest you get used to them :)

I'd like to see less so that more of the story can be progressed.

Yeah I know they won't just disappear but still I would like some episodes to have none at all...

I guess I'm really different. I like rich character development, so I really like the flashbacks. There's only been one episode that I wish I could forget ever happened, and that of course would be the Nikki/Paulo episode. Other than that, I can't think of one flashback or episode that I really didn't like (oh wait, there was the episode where Sawyer decided to proclaim himself the new sheriff, that episode ticked me off, but other than that I've enjoyed them all).

My only big beef with Lost is the fact that they have created so many different stories that some kind of get pushed to the side or forgotten although (e.g. Sawyer/new sheriff). Or they take forever to answer some of the basic questions. For example, why haven't we returned to the shark or furthermore, why hasn't anyone gotten Danielle to take them to the radio tower yet? After going to the Black Pearl, that would have been my next adventure if the hatch turned out to be nothing (which isn't entirely true, but for the most part it was). I guess some of the things that have happened I would have done differently...

can't sun have an abortion to stop her dying? or would that not work, they just didnt discuss it in the episode at all.

and how come naomi can speak so many languages? portugese, chinese and italian (hurley also said she was speaking spanish but he might have just got it confused with the portugese)

Not possible, because Des is Portugese, and he didn't recognize the language, whereas Spanish-speaking Hurley did.

I'm REALLY hoping the producers know what they're doing.. They're swearing up and down that the season finale will be a Jack flashbacks that we'll love.. Kind of difficult, no?

I'm with Hurmoth on this though, character development isn't bad.

Look at any novel. 400 pages. How much of that is pure action?

So did Juliet know about suns pregnancy? and why does she want Kate's?

With sperm counts being 5 times higher than normal, its plausible that she is also pregnant (thanks to Sawyer).

I'd prefer to check a transcript, but I don't think Juliet says she "has" Sun's sample, does she? My thought was that Juliet was referring to Sun's baby as a 'sample'. In medicine and science research, whatever you're testing is called the 'sample'. Seems odd for a fertility doc, but it was all I could think of, seeing as how she didn't collect anything from Sun.

The transcript :

Ben, it's 6:00 A.M. on saturday morning. Kwon is pregnant - the fetus is healthy, and was conceived on island with her husband. He was sterile before they got here. I'm still working on getting samples from the other women. I should have Austen's soon. I'll report back when I know more.

Yeah I like the character development theres been some flashbacks that have been brilliant like Desmonds 2 the one on the Island with Kelvin and the one off with the London background, but sometimes I feel they are just thrown in there for the hell of it because the story needs it...just my 2 cents tho I am tho looking forward to this weeks seeing as its on Island rather then off with Locke :D

    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistakeβ€”ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the β€œnuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
