Lost - Season Three

Awesome episode!

I'm willing to say this is the VERY best episode to date in all of Lost.

It has the character development the whole way through, the mystery, the suspense, the lies, the action, some answers, others, losties, jate, juliet, jack, sayid, and everyone else.

GREAT episode!

Great episode, best in a while. Knew that Sawyer was going to kill "Sawyer". So many questions again. When Rousseau appeared? Wtf? Why did she want dynamite.

Preview looks ace! Can't wait for next weeks! :D

HD Versions of Trailer and Screencaps

More spoilers from Cuse and Lindelof

These mysteries will be resolved by the end of the season:

* What was up with the guys in the arctic.

* Walt's ability to rejuvenate animals.

* The "magic box" idea

Some of the other highlights were:

* The island is very selective about who it heals based on the nature of the person.

* Carlton has a new nickname "Wheelbarrow Testicles." Personally, I think that should be the title of his Banjo solo ala Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption"

* Patchy's resurrection will be explained within the next couple of weeks.

* The smoke monster will not be explained until the end of the series.

* The long term story is made up of milestones, but they vary the arrival at those points by watching how the character development plays out.

* Locke's descent into a bumbling fool will be redeemed tonight.

Also Lost will VERY LIKELY change its timeslot next year!

Not sure how many people remember The Transmission (a Lost podcast that ended in the middle of Season Two), but they posted some of the major points from the show on their blog, I found it an interesting read.

This was ostensibly a Locke episode, or at least one that caught us up on his last week on the island, but it was Josh Holloway?s James ?Sawyer? Ford that lent it its power. It was absolutely key to learn that some Others think Locke is a saviour of some sort, that Ben may or may not support that idea, and that Richard Alpert is so up to something. But for all the clues and information churned out in ?The Brig,? the one-on-one confrontation within is what sticks with me most.

There were obnoxiously unsubtle Biblical references tonight, from Sawyer?s bloodied, bare feet to Locke?s bearing of his father?s cross on his back. And of course Sawyer?s mother?s name was Mary. Locke?s hand wound healed fast (which Jen found reminiscent of ?The Lost Boys?), and Ben suggests that his proximity is restoring his health. The fact that Ben brought the camp to the base of a pillar or shrine to sacrifice Anthony Cooper (in front of an audience, no less) was immensely creepy. Alpert implied that Ben?s relatively recent focus on fertility is a mere trifle, that there are bigger things in play. I?m certain he?s right.

There was also a lot of talk about death, of course. Anthony Cooper quite reasonably concluded he was in hell ? perhaps the only explanation for coming face to face with your ?dead? son mere moments after a major car crash. (It?s a good thing his crash was in Florida and not L.A., otherwise hardcore conspiracy theorists would simply explode.) Naomi fills in a few more blanks on the supposed fate of 815, including a watery grave four miles down and a fuselage full of bodies. I suspect the purgatory theory, the oldest ?LOST? theory on the books, will get another round of attention? but I personally feel that the writers are specifically (and for the umpteenth time) debunking the purgatory theory by explicitly addressing it. They?ve done the same for ?it?s all Hurley?s imagination? and ?time travel,? but I suspect some will never give up on those theories, either.

Once again, Sayid gives us one of the most satisfying conversations of the season by merely sitting down and asking straightforward questions. I loved his reaction to Naomi telling him that Desmond, and not 815, was the target of her search. The details of her arrival ? the freighter, the helicopter crash, the fancy phone ? are good. Almost too good. I, for one, don?t fault Sayid for being skeptical.

Meanwhile, it?s official, no one trusts Jack, bringing us to the brink of the leadership crisis hinted at early in Season 3.

Still, it?s hard to decide just who to strangle first. Sayid, for spilling the beans to Kate, despite having the most mistrust of anyone. Kate, for running to Jack exactly 0.8 seconds after Sayid told her not to. Or Jack, for being in cahoots with Juliet. It turns out they?ve got a shared secret, one that?s relevant to possible rescue and may redeem Juliet, but given the information anyone has it?s preposterous he?d insist Juliet can be told anything.

And now that Sawyer has Juliet?s recorded message to Ben, things will likely get uncomfortable to her, and perhaps even Sun, next week.

Notes and Notions:

  • What did Ben mean by saying, twice, that it was Locke who brought Anthony Cooper to the island? How so? Anthony Cooper?s story of the crash and drugs and needle have Richard Alpert?s fingerprints all over it, but how could that have been set into motion by John Locke?
  • Jen?s still unclear on why the Others were so interested in Anthony Cooper?s demise. Did it matter whether Locke did it or is a Sawyer strangulation just as good? Both Ben and Alpert (who may or may not be on Ben?s side) imply that Locke needed to be free of him, but Alpert gave Locke the tool to get the job done without getting blood on his hands. Given how the island seems to look upon killers, this little switcheroo may turn out to be significant.
  • Because this wasn?t a Sawyer flashback, it was probably a challenge to demonstrate how conflicted he was over confronting and killing Anthony Cooper. Yet, we felt it, right down to the guilt-ridden puke in the bushes (which Michael also did after offing Ana-Lucia and Libby). The question is, what?s next for Sawyer? We?ve come to expect that once someone?s ?issue? is resolved, they?re not long for the island.
  • Like Alpert, Rosseau similarly resurfaces suddenly and is up to no good. There are many, many things a crazy lady can do with dynamite. I loved that Locke warned her, ?Be careful, it?s unstable.?

pregnancy island is going with no direction and no script at all. More random than Family Guy and thats a lot to say.

Everyone is RELATED. Even secundaries characters!. GIVE ME A MOTH**FU*** BREAK!

What is your problem? We knew that everyone was related, or better yet--connected, some how way back in the first season. And pregnancy island? The story hasn't changed since the time Claire was kidnapped by Ethan. We knew then that pregnancy was something important, we're just getting more information now as to why that is important.

I was thinking last night maybe Jacob isnt....real?...i.e he is a statue or something because he hasn't be credited in the Dharma episode...

I'm thinking we may have already seen him and they are withholding his name from the credits until the episode airs

Are you talking about the two Sawyers? Come on, thats been obvious ever since they introduced Cooper.

I'm thinking we may have already seen him and they are withholding his name from the credits until the episode airs

Maybe in previous episodes they have named people who are important to the episode....plus looking at the preview

does he really live in a shack?...thats of course if he lives there

I'm thinking we may have already seen him and they are withholding his name from the credits until the episode airs

In a recent podcast they said that we haven't seen Jacob before and Jacob is "Him". I'm pretty sure he is human and wasn't mentioned in the press release because of the speculation that who was playing Jacob.

ThePitt - Everyone related? What you on about? Jack and Claire are siblings, anyone else. People are connected to each other, we knew that in season 1.

Dark UFO posted some rumours that are probably false but who know's...

- We'll find out that "Ben Linus", along with Richard Alpert and Jacob, were once workers for DHARMA who also doubled as human test subjects for various DHARMA projects on the island.

- We'll see the overthrow of DHARMA scientists by the workers led by Jacob, who was the instigator of the revolution and the saviour of Ben. Unfortunately, Jacob was unable to save Ben's family which we'll see.

- We'll come to understand that the mysterious (this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep) wasn't the only traveler on the expedition flight to the island (hint: a male was with her who'll wash ashore later), but is in fact a spy of the DHARMA Initiative who's come to investigate exactly what happened on the island.

- The triggers for her visit were the meltdown of the Swan Station and the loss of contact with the Flame Station. A series of "secure" codes had to be input from the Flame to give DHARMA the green light that everything was fine, and to continue the food drops the same way the numbers had to be input in the Swan. The Others (hostiles) were successful keeping up appearances with Mikhail's help until Locke destroyed it.

- Cerberus, aka "The Smoke Monster" was a DHARMA experiment in both nanotechnology and neural networking which was used to guard the perimeter of various stations intuitively, but was damaged during the purge of DHARMA controllers, It has since gone rogue and become self aware.

- The "Others" as we've come to know and love (or hate) are truly the good guys who gained their own freedom and were actively attempting to reverse the effects of experiments performed on them by DHARMA, and the effects of the island on unprotected humans until Flight 815 interrupted them.

- Ben confides in Locke that they were basically slaves to DHARMA and they must keep up the ruse that DHARMA is still in control or they will all die from a common enemy. Jacob is the head "inmate" who orchestrated the revolution, and who remains hidden in plain sight but is still the one they must answer to.

- We find out that Penelope Widmore has been a member of DHARMA all along, and the station in Antarctica is run by DHARMA. Desmond has a vision of Penelope which is frightening and reveals new, truthful memories about how they really met at the monastery.

- Ben dies in the finale along with a few Others, as does Kate and Sayid. Sawyer and most of the Losties blame Jack and Juliet for Kate and Sayid's deaths due to his plan. Jack is forced to go with the surviving Others, and we see Tom by his side as he protects his new leader. From the sky we see images of the island as if from the viewpoint of a coming aircraft. It seems DHARMA has sent someone (or something) to the island and it's not nice.

What???

He was talking about how Locke's dad is the con Sawyer.

Yes Jack and Claire are siblings

Yeah he was, but he said that everyone is related

Dark -

I read them a few days ago, i think very few are true and just fan theories. Ben etc working for Dharma is a possibility, but Kate and Sayid dieing! I don't think so, you can't kill Sayid, Sayid is the man.

Yeah but

Someone is gonna die at the end of the season and maybe Kate dying would split the Jack and Sawyer group up...you can already sense its going that way with next week...Sayid I doubt will die...

Good point.

But hopefully they won't kill off any more hotties, Shannon. Nikki and Anna gone!

Thanks for that, Hurmoth; great read.

Want to point out something that may (or may not?) be important: Juliet wanted to confide in Kate.

I believe this is the point where Juliet becomes truly good - she sees that there is a real honest-to-god hope of getting off the island while being on the Losties side - she no longer needs Ben.

Just a thought. What do you guys think?

Lastest Podcast

- Locke will do anything if he is told he is special

- They seem to be hinting that Locke's healing is very important to the Others and has caught the attention of many of them.

-They have been setting up the Cooper is the original Sawyer for a long time and were surprised that more people hadn't figured out this cross. they felt that this was the best time to reveal the cross as it will propel the story for the rest of the season

-The Man Behind the Curtain may be Ben (Carlton first said yes and then said maybe)

-The Man Behind the Curtain is a Wizard of Oz reference and is pointing to the question of who really is in charge of the Others.

-We will learn more about Jacob next week

Questions:

-Was Tom quoting Alvar Hanso in The Hunting Party, and do the Others therefor have a connection to the Hanso Foundation? Yes, it is similar to the Hanso quote. There will not be any more fake Hanso commercials this year.

-Why were Darlton so down on the April 30th podcast? Does it have to do with all the deaths coming up? Damon said it's a bit of a letdown to have finished the writing for the season. Now they are talking about Season 4 and are excited to see the remaining eppys this year.

-Why no monkeys on the island? Joop is an important monkey and he may make an appearance. Joop is the failsafe cancellation episode! LOL Joop is the name of the monkey in a Jules Verne story.

-Will LOST run Jan -May next year and has Carnivore been picked up yet? Carnivore is in development. Yes, they think the show will run Jan-May.

-Will there be podcasts during the hiatus? Carlton would like to do some. The writers take a vacation for a month post season finale. They will be at Comicon again this year.

-Does Chris enjoy his job and what is it like to watch Darlton without pants every week? He does.

-When LOST is canceled, will ABC give the writers enough time to end the show well? The show will not end badly, and Darlton are still trying to determine an end date with ABC.

-Is the Hurley Bird Smokey? Where in Hurley's past did we see the bird? We've seen the bird in finales past and we may see it again, but it has never appeared to Hurley before he got to the island.

-3 things have to happen in each podcast: Carlton has to comment about his lack of pants, Damon always answers q's from Carlton with "that's an interesting question, Carlton", and then there is a 99% chance that a phone will ring. Is Chris's only job the podcast or does he have other work on LOST? He does other podcasts-Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy, but LOST is the only one with fan questions.

    • Dead on arrival at that price. Like they missed the mark by multiple hundreds of dollars - this should actually undercut the Macbook Air at $899 if they want any sort of sales / further adoption of WoA

    • A group made up of dozens of cybersecurity experts, including several well-known veterans of the industry, published an open letter to the U.S. government asking it to lift the export control order on Anthropic’s Fable and Mythos models. According to the open letter, “this action has taken the best models away from [cybersecurity] defenders” who now can’t use the models to find vulnerabilities and make their software and products more secure. “To pull the best capabilities away from defenders without a good reason when our adversaries are rapidly advancing is dangerous,” read the letter. On Friday, the U.S. government ordered Anthropic to limit the export of Fable and Mythos, citing national security concerns, without explaining the specific reasons behind the order, according to Anthropic. In response, the company suspended access to the models to all users worldwide.     https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/15/cybersecurity-vets-protest-dangerous-us-government-ban-on-anthropics-most-powerful-models/
