Lost - Season Three

Thats not true. Ben even said to Jack 'Why do you want to leave (the island)? There is no one for you there.'

And Locke would never leave.

True... Locke would never leave...

and Jack must be so angry... 'cause Ben was right about Jack having nothing to go back to.

also... how is Cate living free?? She was a fugitive...how did they forgive her??

So many questions to be answered in the next season...

True... Locke would never leave...

Not a chance.

and Jack must be so angry... 'cause Ben was right about Jack having nothing to go back to.

Yup. He realized that the island wasn't finished with its plan for him yet.

also... how is Cate living free?? She was a fugitive...how did they forgive her??

Could be a lot of different ways. But it doesn't really matter.

So many questions to be answered in the next season...

Only one I really want to know right now is who is on the boat.

zomg that finally was INCREDIBLE!!!! I mean, future-flashes? Makes you think about what the writers/producers said in the "Answers" special...that they were going to fill in the characters' past/present/and show you where they are going...

Odd part of the night...when I was cheering on Ben about not making the call...Methinks it has something to do with The Dharma Initiative, wondering what happed to ALL THEIR PEOPLE...

Wow. That is all I can say. Wow.

Is that the best cliff hanger in television history? If not, it is in the top 3.

My guesses for who is in the casket:

1) Locke

or

2) Ben

I'm more leaning towards Locke, since Ben most likely would be going to jail (or killed).

You know, throughout the episode I felt something weird was going on with Jack's "flashback"...it just didn't fit in with what we knew about him before the island. Guess my feeling was right.

Thats not true. Ben even said to Jack 'Why do you want to leave (the island)? There is no one for you there.'

And Locke would never leave.

what does what ben said to jack have to do with whos in the coffin since jack is clearly alive? unless you ment when ben talked to locke

Penny sent a transmission TO the looking glass, not the other way around. I don't think she was trying to get TLG, she was just transmitting to the island.

That's true. Though I don't like how she could just magically communicate with some 30-40 year old piece of technology like that.

Edited by Rob2687

It was a good episode, but totally predictable. It was fairly obvious how the flashes were in the future. The only thing really shocking was the result of the beach altercation. It was a good ending with a good cliffhanger, but I think if you guys sleep on it, it won't be the "GRRREAEAETEST EVARRR!?!?!

That's true. Though I don't like how she could just magically communicate with some 30-40 year old piece of technology like that.

She wasn't using holograms or anything. She's been sending a signal to TLG for a good 3 weeks.

Because they don't want to have big gaps in the season. It will run Feb-May, like 24 runs Jan-May.

Trust me, its much better in the long run. If you are a 24 watcher I'm sure you can attest to that.

My BEEF with this new move, is they will have LESS episodes.

I mean 24 will get 24 Episodes, right?

But LOST only gonna have 16! Why can't Lost also get 24 Eps? That's BS, so I am Against it, if you ask me.

Will the DVD be Cheaper because of Fewer episodes?

Excellent episode. futuristic flashes matched nice with the episode title "Through the Looking Glass" I do not think the boat was Dharma though because they knew the location of the island, which is how the plane dropped off supplies and food in the earlier episodes.

When the food drops were going on, the beacon was probably operational, and leading them to the island. The beacon is no longer operational, thanks either to the implosion of The Swan, or the explosion of the Flame, or both.

The last food drop off happened during "Lockdown", which was before the implosion of The Swan, and before the destruction of The Flame, so they probably won't be happening anymore.

That's true. Though I don't like how she could just magically communicate with some 30-40 year old piece of technology like that.

Penn was probably putting a LOT of money into finding Desmond, and may have found out about the DHARMA Initiative, and known the communications capabilities of what they left on The Island, though she couldn't find the island itself.

Edited by MioTheGreat
But the plane dropped off that shipment of food when when the looking glass was operational and durning the time that the others had control of the island. so either the beacon was working or dharma knows the coordinates of the island

The beacon was operational at at time, because the events of the season 2 finale, when the swan imploded and broke the beacon, had not occurred. In "Par Avion", Mikhail said this:

"2 weeks ago our underwater beacon stopped emitting its locator signal. There was an event. An electromagnetic pulse. It'd be impossible to come back. "

Edit: You editted your post while I was looking for the exact quote :p

We don't know what transpired after the call was made to the ship and the rescue of at least Jack and Kate. It's possible Ben helped the survivors of 815 in some manner and they all made it off the island. Kate's response to Jack's question of attending the funeral shows total disdain that I would expect when referencing Ben.

Kate is the type of person that would attend Sawyer's or Locke's funeral. They were all too close. You can't blame Locke for anything since she did get rescued. It has to be Ben.

But I guess we'll know next season what happened after the 'rescue' plays out. I hope this doesn't turn out to be Dallas thing where Bobby steps out of the shower... ;)

I didn't see it coming. In fact even after Kate appeared, it took me a while to realize what was happening.

Awesome finale! Worst part: waiting for season 4.

The first thing should have been the KRZR phone. That came out a good 2 years after lost takes place.

i don't think it's sawyers funeral because didn't kate say to jack at the end that she has to go back to HIM, or that HE'S waiting for her.. or something to that affect.

I agree, Kate wouldn't say it the way she did if it wasn't someone of bigger value to the drama.

The 'new' people, quite obviously, are Dharma trying to get back to the island.

Nice theory, Dharma wanting to resume their work. Interesting....

I don't think it is Locke in the coffin. But he is the only one that I can think of that would have no one show up at the funeral unless sometime in the next seasons they get close to someone else. Could it maybe be Charlie? (but they'd have to be rescued pretty soon after that for him to have an open casket)

As others pointed out, it can't be Charlie. Kate would've gone, there would've been a lot of people, and it wouldn't have been in California.

Charlie just died in TLG. The flash forwards were way in the future, Jack talked about flying back and forth trying to get back to the island. So it was at least months, if not years, since they left the island.

And speaking of which, I thought it was a wonderful touch to have Aaron crying after Charlie died.

Yeah, it definitely had to have been years, not months or even weeks. The kind of condition Jack was in tells me it was a long time that he's had to deal with this. I also liked the Aaron part. My wife almost joined him.

Wow. That is all I can say. Wow.

Is that the best cliff hanger in television history? If not, it is in the top 3.

My guesses for who is in the casket:

1) Locke

or

2) Ben

I'm more leaning towards Locke, since Ben most likely would be going to jail (or killed).

What would Ben go to jail for? The island is not governed by any country with laws that could apply there. I told my wife either Locke or Ben, since they both pretty much have no one left (neither does Jack, but we know it's not him).

No you have to be kidding me. Why they cant start a season on September or October???
My BEEF with this new move, is they will have LESS episodes.

You want breaks? You want two more seasons instead of three? You're getting just as many episodes as it totals 48. Also read:

Trust me, its much better in the long run. If you are a 24 watcher I'm sure you can attest to that.

Good notations! J could be for John Locke or James (Sawyer). Could go either way.

    • Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft is facing a class action lawsuit from shareholders who allege that the company intentionally overhyped its artificial intelligence initiatives to distract from slowing cloud revenue and an exploding infrastructure bill. The complaint was filed in a Seattle federal court by the Michigan-based City of St. Clair Shores Police and Fire Retirement System. The plaintiffs argue that Microsoft’s leadership painted an overly optimistic picture of its Copilot rollout and complex OpenAI partnership. They say that the company did this while downplaying the harsh reality that building the data centers required to power these next-generation tools requires a huge amount of capital. Back at the company's Q2 2026 earnings report from late January, Microsoft revealed that its flagship Azure cloud growth had slipped to 39% (down from 40% the prior quarter) and guided investors to expect a further deceleration to 37% or 38% for the first three months of 2026. Now, under normal circumstances, a slight percentage point drop in cloud growth is a minor operational hiccup. But the Redmond giant paired that guidance with $37.5 billion in quarterly capital expenditures. This figure, which is a 66% year-over-year surge, blew past any analyst estimates at that time. Much of this amount went into buying high-priced GPUs and custom silicon that were required to train and run large language models. This is why the market reacted violently and just a day after its earnings call on January 29, the company's stock plummeted 10%, and wiped out $357 billion of capital in just a trading session. Microsoft is doing better now, though. Its Q3 2026 results showed its run rate from its AI business was hitting $37 billion, proving that enterprise demand for its infrastructure is very real and continuing to scale. Microsoft isn't the only company pouring billions into infrastructure for the AI boom. We've seen most Big Tech companies, including Amazon and Google, also get the results of these **** with stronger-than-ever growth and increased income. via Reuters

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.
