Adobe Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 Update 8/23/2006

photoshopam4.png

The Adobe Photoshop 9.0.2 update fixes a number of problems discovered after Photoshop CS2 (9.0) was released. The Photoshop 9.0.2 update includes all the fixes contained in the earlier Photoshop 9.0.1 update. Therefore, it is not necessary to apply the 9.0.1 update prior to running the 9.0.2 update on Photoshop CS2.

The most significant fixes in the 9.0.2 release include the following:

- Menus now respond correctly after a single click.

- Undo/Redo work properly when multiple documents are open.

- Photoshop no longer produces a program error when encountering unsupported file types through the Acrobat Touchup workflow.

- Supported files that incorrectly produced an "unsupported color space" message now open as expected.

- TIFF files with layer data greater than 2GB now open correctly.

The most significant fixes in the 9.0.1 release (also included in the 9.0.2 update) include the following:

- Photoshop no longer hangs for several seconds when using painting tools with quick strokes.

- A runtime error that could appear when mousing over a high-res doc with the Brush Tool has been fixed.

- Documents containing a large number of text layers now open more quickly.

- Problems related to palettes (slow redraw, palettes go white, possible crash) have been addressed.

- TIFF files from certain scanners can now be opened correctly.

- After editing an image in Photoshop CS2 via Acrobat Touchup, the image no longer gets repositioned.

- XMP metadata from AI and PDF files is now retained in Photoshop.

- Slow performance when toggling layer visibility has been fixed.

- Info palette numbers now display and update when moving a curve point in Curves via the cursor keys.

- Problems opening certain TIFF and PSB files greater than 2GB have been resolved.

- The Merge to HDR command now functions properly when using high-ASCII characters in the user login.

this update was rolled out quietly for a bit of time through adobe's automatic update...

Don't you find Adobe's Update mechanism cumbersome?

A: Acrobat is not included in the Adobe Updater

B: If you download and install the updates manually, the Updater will download them and try to install them anyway.

C: It's really not an auto-updater: for Indesign and Illustrator updates you still have to go through the Installshield prompts.

I can't believe how far Adobe is into their product release schedule and they still don't have a useful update mechanism.

Unfortunately, Photoshop still takes a long time to load and the menu's still freeze up briefly once the main application form shows up.

I know... it's painful... that's why I have deactivated it and still updates manually

After applying this update, the startup time has been increased and it not locked locks up for me. However, before this update, i used to have that problem

I freeze I get when it first starts up is because it scans every HDD and since I have two external HDDs that aren't used constantly (so they go into standby after 20 minutes or so), I have to wait for them to spin back up.

Bad design really, especially considering the temp/scratch files are not on either external HDD.

Ah, i only have 1 drive right now and i guess thats why it is so quick for me

    • Agreed. And this is a great discount offer! It's a shame that there's no discount offer option for people who would be fine subscribing for a year-long term, but pay monthly.
    • A Warhammer 40K racing game and a chess roguelike are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The Epic Games Store has returned to its standard giveaway procedures after weeks of mystery freebies. The latest drop is replacing last week's Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest games and has brought in a double giveaway offering Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King. As always, the game is yours to add permanently to your Epic Games Store library within the next seven days. From the duo, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks lands from developer Caged Element, and it's a racing game that was only released last year. The title has you piloting Ork buggies, tanks, and aircraft modeled after the popular tabletop miniatures. The focus is on multiplayer mayhem, offering multiple game modes that have you fighting other players as everyone tries to survive and get across finish lines or destroy mechs. Crossplay support between PC and consoles has now arrived as part of a free update, too, giving a boost to matchmaking times for this multiplayer-focused title. If racing carnage isn't your thing, then The Ouroboros King offers tactics. The indie title is a mashup of chess and standard roguelike experience, letting players create their own armies to defeat an enemy faction, all on the familiar checkered board. There is a procedurally generated map, pieces with special abilities, relics that bend the game's rules to make overpowered builds, and more. The newly available Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King giveaways on the Epic Games Store are set to run until June 11, giving PC gamers seven days to claim the latest offer. Once this closes out, a new freebie will take its place on the same day. Don't forget that mobile gamers can check out the Epic Game Store's weekly giveaways on Android and iOS to grab a freebie there as well.

    • The most consequential argument in technology right now is not about which model is smartest or which chip is fastest. It is about whether the entire enterprise is a generational revolution or the largest financial bubble ever inflated — and the unsettling answer, increasingly, is that it may be both at once.,,,, https://www.techtimes.com/articles/318138/20260610/ai-revolution-ai-bubble-trillion-dollar-question-splitting-wall-street-silicon-valley.htm This is a very good read.  For what it is worth, I agree with the answer to the question.
