Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 RC1

Recommended Posts

Nope, there is no error. So I guess it works then.

thanks jermey. i dled it, and your right, it works fine. only prob im having with rc1 so far is outlook express not connecting immediatly. i get the "no connection to the internet is currently available" message, but all i gotta do is hit the "try again" button, and it will check and receive mail. so gotta find a way to fix this issue, and im pretty impressed with IE7 so far

Those tricky bastards! I had filed a bug report back when IE7 beta 1 first came out saying that Favorites and Links would lose their favicons after a short period of time. They closed it, saying that it was By Design and would not be fixed. Well what do you know, IE7 RC1 saves the favicons for Favorites and Links!

I'm thinking that someone else brought the issue up and eventually they decided to fix the problem but they obviously didn't go back and change what they told you. Either that or it was fixed along the way.

Is there a way to select a favourite (Left click) & get it to open in a new tab by default instead of middle clicking yet as per older builds?

I currently do not have ie7 installed but as I recall correctly of beta 2, you can set tabs to open all the time (ie not open a new window ever upon left click). Look around in the tab settings :)

So is that the argument the Firefox faithful are using now? Don't use IE7, because it'll suck in the future?

No, that's just what alpha_omega said.

I'm going to keep using Firefox because I'm sick and tired of working around rendering bugs and IE7 only partially fixes some in 6 making things even more complicated haveing to support 2 IEs - and more Firefox users equals more pressure on MS to finally fix them in IE8 or something. I'm going to keep using it because I can't get by without extensions. And cause dammit I like it.

Just to mention, IE7 RC1 won't browse to any pages on MCE (some error comes up :( ) and WMP11 comes up with an error about wininet.dll every time the PC boots (apparently due to a DLL mismatch)

I should also mention they both work fine on XP home

Both are working fine for me on MCE.

I love what they are doing with Firefox 2, but you are right about the tab browsing in IE7 not feeling right.

agree ctrl T new tabs open so slow compared to firefox, also in live mail

mail.live.com

when u try to do @ with alt 64 it goes to the url bar =/ and the lack of customization its one of those disadv of ie7

i think that moving from ie6 to ie7 its a huge step but its still premature and microsoft really need classic interface to ie 7, change its good but not everyone would accept it.

how do i contact MS to send some bugs?

RC1 broke Zephyr Development Corporations Passport system

http://www.zephyrcorp.com/

beta 3 workd fine.

If you are an official beta tester theres connect or the IE7 newsgroup, otherwise I havent got a clue

tab browsing just doesnt feel the same in IE. In firefox its very smooth, tabs r moveable. The 1 close button per tab is just plain stupid; something i hope firefox will drop in ver2

i even feel more comfortable with IE6 non tab than using IE7

and way to go MS

i unistalled IE7 beta3 and u give /SYSTEM ROOT/CMD not found error at startup...

tab browsing is smooth in ie7 and the tabs are movable. im guessing you didnt use it before making remarks.

i did use beta3

and its a definate "YES" tab browsing is not smooth in IE

if u use firefox u will know the transition between tabs r perfect [no lag]

but in IE, when u move viewing from one tab to the other, the moment u click the new tab theres a "WHITE" pause [gives u a page refresh/loading feel]

im no fanboy and happly give any browser a try, in the end i only pick the best according to my needs

    • On the one hand, it shouldn't be difficult. You buy a computer, you decide what OS you want, which browser etc. Simple enough. But that's the techie side of things. My sister, my mother, wouldn't bother with such a thought. And I'm pretty sure that if you presented a window asking them what to pick they would say, "I don't care! I just want to access my Email!"

    • Anyone who expects MS to play fair is a complete idiot.
    • Everyone behaves like Internet Explorer just never happened and Edge is whole new thing all while Microsoft is pulling the exact same ###### it did back then. Sigh.
