Check prices for Microsoft Products! (CDN $)

Recommended Posts

Hmmm, I was surfing through Microsoft's Canadian site and found a "Product Price" section, and apparently they have Windows Vista and Office 2007 already listed there with prices in Canadian Dollars.

I don't know if this is relevant or not, I thought it was a good find for me as I've been wanting the precise price of Windows Vista Home Premium in Canadian!

Tip to Americans: Minus $100 from the Canadian price and you get the USD retail price ;), this is how it is in Canada...We get ripped off by a $100 . Ask any fellow Canadian .

Wow, did you see the price for Vista Ultimate Upgrade? $300 CDN, that's actually pretty cheap for what Microsoft is saying is "the most premium OS package ever offered". I actually predicted that it would cost around $600, but that's actually a pretty fair price!

No, $300 CAD sounds about right. Isn't that what XP Pro upgrade was when it came out? And remember, you say upgrade. When you think that way, it does sound quite expensive.

For the Aussies in da house :p

The article mentions Neowin.net and user TheGriffin.

What do you know, I made into an article :o!

Wish other websites stop claiming it's their source and use Neowin's news post as the original .

To give them the benifiet of the doubt, it is possible that they discovered it on their own. But it would be nice, if they did find it through us, that they would give us credit.

But regardless, congrats on making the Australian IT (Y)

-- Vista Pricing Revealed

Online retailer Amazon.com has begun taking preorders for various

Windows Vista versions, which will be available January 30, 2007,

according to Amazon.com. Not surprisingly, the prices that Amazon.com

lists for Vista are quite similar to the roughly equivalent Windows XP

versions.

According to Amazon.com, the prices for Vista are as follows:

Vista Home Basic: $199.00

Vista Home Basic Upgrade: $99.95 -- Maybe drop to this version..

Vista Home Basic Upgrade (Additional License Only): $89.95

Vista Home Premium: $239.00

Vista Home Premium Upgrade: $159.00 :( [How much is that in Australian dollars ..]

Vista Home Premium Upgrade (Additional License Only): $143.00

Vista Business: $299.00

Vista Business Upgrade: $199.00

Vista Business Upgrade (Additional License Only): $179.00

Vista Ultimate: $399.00

Vista Ultimate Upgrade: $259.00

Vista Ultimate Upgrade (Additional License Only): $233.00

Although not every Vista version correlates exactly with an XP

version, the pricing is in line with XP pricing. For example, XP Home

costs $189.00, compared with $199.99 for Vista Home Basic, and the XP

Home Upgrade costs $89.97, only two cents more than the Vista Home

Basic Upgrade. Upsells won't be particularly expensive either: Prices

for the much more capable Vista Home Premium are just $40 to $60

higher than those of Vista Home Basic.

Amazon.com doesn't yet show the box art that Microsoft will use for

its Vista retail versions. Earlier this week, Microsoft Canada also

slipped with a bit of Vista pricing information: The company's Web

site briefly reported that Vista Ultimate would cost $450 in Canadian

dollars.

    • I know I won't ever be using it to make my game. I'd rather pay humans.
    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
