I am sure that dx10 will not support agp or I mean agp will not have dx10 support. ironsight2000
AGP is old no one will make cards for any new tech because Pci-e is much faster so there will be no point to make agp Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/490393-agp-directx-10-video-cards/#findComment-587826260 Share on other sites

MrKuro
sure they will . . they still make DX9 regular old PCI cards, and people buy those. People will make them, and someone will buy them. Not saying I will have any use for one, but I'm sure it will happen. Xerxes
They might if the demand is still there (but is still very unlikely), Nvidia said a while ago the GeForce 7 series would not support AGP at all, yet there are AGP 7 series cards been made...so who knows, I like said before if there is a demand for it, there will be AGP cards. DemonicHawk
AGP ftw!!!!! i am prety sure they will, they'll do it for money, cause theres always people that iwll buy them, because they refuse to make a major upgrade. PLUS im sure apg cards will be super cheap by the time dx10 cards come out. and to the person that said that pci-e is faster... at the current time... its not noticibly faster, :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/490393-agp-directx-10-video-cards/#findComment-587826296 Share on other sites
Master Shake
I think they probably will since so many people (including me) are using agp. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/490393-agp-directx-10-video-cards/#findComment-587826309 Share on other sites
ironsight2000
ok then why not make vista on to cd then while where at it its just not fesable. same goes for agp its dead they dont even make mobos for it any more its all pci-e Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/490393-agp-directx-10-video-cards/#findComment-587829237 Share on other sites
lunarworks
same goes for agp its dead they dont even make mobos for it any more its all pci-e They may not make AGP motherboards anymore, but there's a gargantuan installed base of reasonable-performance AGP-only machines out there. You'd have to be a retard not to ignore that fact. Anyways, DX10 is a feature set. It's not specifically based around speed. PiracyX
I think they will make serveral DX10 cards for AGP still. Its still being used by many people who havent upgraded yet. ATI and nVidia would be stupid not to release some kind of AGP on their new cards that they are going to release which will be DX10 compatible. Sethos
Only time will tell, but i really doubt it. They can't keep adjusting to those who refuse to upgrade. And if you plan to upgrade to DX10 - You should be able to dish out a few extra dollars and get a PCI Express Motherboard. ironsight2000
(wiki) Although AGP is still incorporated into many motherboards today, it is gradually being phased out in favor of PCI Express. PCI Express allows much faster data transfer, is full-duplex, and also supports other devices. So far, 2006 has seen many motherboards available with PCIe slots, with some gamer-oriented configurations offering dual PCIe x16 slots. Many newer graphics cards are available exclusively in PCIe, with AGP versions of the same cards becoming correspondingly rare. At this rate, it is expected that AGP will be almost totally replaced within a few years. eightequalsd
I think a budget AGP DX10 card could sell well, for example something with similar power to the GF 7300 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/490393-agp-directx-10-video-cards/#findComment-587832540 Share on other sites

And if you plan to upgrade to DX10 - You should be able to dish out a few extra dollars and get a PCI Express Motherboard. It'll be more than just a few dollars for some of us. I've got a 3.4GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. Only got AGP on my motherboard, so I don't fancy sheeling out to buy a new graphics card, mboard and processor when my other components are easily fast enough for the latest games. It all racks up, I am personally waiting to see what is released in the near future, and hope that a new AGP that supports DirectX 10 is released. There are plenty of AGP only motherboards out there so there is still a market for the cards. lunarworks
can vista run with a agp card smothly or would it be choppy (pressently) If Vista didn't run smoothly with an AGP-based graphics card, then there would be something seriously wrong with Vista. (But I'm not going to open THAT can of worms.) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/490393-agp-directx-10-video-cards/#findComment-587833110 Share on other sites

cannoli
can vista run with a agp card smothly or would it be choppy (pressently) I'm running Vista on a machine with an AGP Radeon 9500 Pro, all the glass features work perfectly. I don't think that we have seen the end of new AGP products and there most likely will be DX10 AGP cards although as stated by others they may be lower end cards such as a GF7300 type card.
