West Ham sign Tevez and Mascherano!

Wow, The Hammers have landed a sensational deal! :woot:

Argentina striker Carlos Tevez says he and team-mate Javier Mascherano have agreed to sign for West Ham.

The World Cup duo, who both play for Corinthians in Brazil, are set to move to Upton Park on a year-long loan.

Tevez, 22, claims on his website he and Mascherano, 22, have signed contracts with West Ham despite being linked with moves to Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Hammers are thought to have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments, who own the rights to the two players.

I'm still hoping united can clinch a deal for a defensive midfield player, hargreaves looks a no go, mascherano also, Ok, we've signed michael carrick but he's hardly known for putting his foot in, he's more of a read the game and intercept passes type player...

I think united will regret not getting a midfield battler when it comes to the champions league.

No Details of Fee or Length released tho so I smell something fishy about it :s

lmao Same here...

In May, Kia Joorabchian, the president of London-based MSI, said: "Tevez will leave Corinthians if a team pays the contract's release clause, which is between ?69m and ?83m."

ROFL.

I'd much prefer Messi to go to Arsenal than Tevez but oh well <_<

Wonder if there is something fishy going on with MSI? Maybe there in talks with West Ham over a take over?

Nevertheless this will probably be the two biggest signing West Ham have ever made! There not world class players reaching the end of their career, there world class players still to reach their peak with another 10 plus years in them.

Deals of the summer imo!

West Ham have pulled off a major coup by signing Argentina World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Striker Tevez, 22, and midfielder Mascherano, 22, join the Hammers from Brazilian side Corinthians on permanent deals for undisclosed fees.

The pair have been linked with moves to Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But the Hammers are thought to have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments, who own the rights to the two players.

MSI were linked with a takeover of West Ham last season but eventually pulled out.

The club said: "West Ham United are delighted to announce the double signing of Argentinian World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Brazilian club Corinthians.

"The pair have been signed for an undisclosed fee and put pen-to-paper on permanent contracts with the club this afternoon. All other aspects of the transfers will remain confidential and undisclosed.

"The transfers represent a massive coup for the Hammers, who have beaten off some of Europe's biggest clubs to secure the services of the duo."

Tevez has emerged as one the most highly rated young strikers in the world since signing for Corinthians from Boca Juniors for ?9.5m in December 2004.

He has been strongly linked with Chelsea this summer, with a transfer fee of between ?20m and ?60m being reported.

In May, Kia Joorabchian, the president of London-based MSI, said: "Tevez will leave Corinthians if a team pays the contract's release clause, which is between ?69m and ?83m."

Both Tevez and Mascherano returned to Argentina's squad for Sunday's friendly against Brazil at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium after signings their deals.

This is the weirdest signing of the transfer window. Something will have gone on. I bet that they stay at the Hammers for a year, to see how they fair in the English game, and than they will probably move to Chelsea.

I think this is one of the most weird transfer's of all time.

I mean, earlier in the summer West Ham signed Carlton Cole, and now they have signed Carlos Tevez! Deffo dodgy!

Indeed, now West Ham have been charged for breaching rules...

The Premier League have charged West Ham with breaching rules over the signings of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano last August.

The Argentine pair joined The Hammers on transfer deadline day last year, a double deal that was hailed as a major coup at the time.

However, it has been speculated that West Ham do not actually own the players' registrations, a move that is in breach of league regulations.

The pair are alleged to be part-owned by a third party, Media Sports Investment (MSI), thus breaking rules which forbids the ownership of players by a third party.

West Ham have yet to respond to the charge and it remains to be seen what punishment, if any, may be forthcoming from the outcome.

Tevez is yet to score from his 16 league appearances to date, while Mascherano fell out of favour and is spending the remainder of the season at Liverpool.

"It is the board's complaint that there were agreements in relation to both these transfers that enabled third parties to acquire the ability materially to influence the club's policies and/or the performance of its teams in League matches and/or the competitions set out in Rule E.10," read a Premier League statement.

"The board's view is this constitutes a breach of rule U.18. Furthermore at the time of the transfer agreements for both Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, and until 24 January 2007, West Ham United failed to disclose the third party agreements to the Premier League and/or deliberately withheld these agreements from the Premier League.

"The board's view is this constitutes a breach of rule B.13, which states 'In all matters and transactions relating to the League each club shall behave towards each other club and the League with the utmost good faith'.

"West Ham United has 14 days within which to respond to these charges."

West Ham have unsurprisingly reacted quickly to the charge, by stating they will 'vigorously defend' themselves and provide the Premier League with the necessary paperwork.

A club statement read: "In light of the legal advice received, the club will vigorously defend itself against the charge and provide a detailed response as requested by the Premier League within the time allowed."

Rappy, did you get that text message that was going around...

"Alan Curbishley is urging his players to use their mobile phones whilst driving. It's the only way they'll get 3 points."

Damn thing never seemed so true. Just to think, if we do go down, the players out:

Tevez (He'll be flogged off for the cash & MSI won't let him play in the Championship)

Ashton

Zamora

Ferdinand (Probably be snapped up by the likes of Liverpool or Arsenal)

Neil (Yeah right, he'll probably be the first to go!)

Upson (As above - but may show a little more patience)

Green (Not sure about him, he's had a bad season, but still a good prospect for the some Premiership team)

Benayoun

Sheringham (Going anyway!)

Reo-Coker (So he can carry on his Baby Bentley lifestyle)

Oh well, maybe I'm right about that list, maybe I'm wrong, but anyway, here's to the 2008/9 season in the Premiership and another FA Cup Final!

West Ham have submitted their appeal to the Premier League after being charged for a breach of rules over the signing of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

The Argentina pair arrived in August but their registration with third party Media Sports Investment may have broken Premier League regulations.

A Premier League spokesman said: "The Premier League can confirm that we have received West Ham's response."

An independent commission is likely to hear the charges.

The Football Association will investigate allegations of financial impropriety concerning West Ham's signing of Javier Mascherano.

The News of the World claims to have been in possession of documents detailing a secret payment in relation to the controversial transfer.

An FA spokesman confirmed: "We can confirm that we have received some documents and we will be investigating the matter further."

The Hammers are already being investigated by the Premier League for an alleged breach of rules concerning the third-party ownership of Mascherano, who has since joined Liverpool on loan, and fellow Argentine Carlos Tevez.

West Ham confirmed they would contest those claims, but this latest controversy is sure to disappoint the already beleaguered club.

Looks like West Ham really are up poo creak without a paddle now!

I think Masch needs some major match practice...we sort of didn't help his fitness level by not playing him at all when he was at West Ham
