explorer folder background image

Recommended Posts

I've been searching for ever and found plenty and I mean plenty of info on how to give a folder a background image but I cant seem to find out how to make it a fixed image background rather than patterned. I've been messing around with the folder.ini and adding html(<BODY background="image.gif" bgproperties="fixed">) into folder.htt with no success. I guess I could just use a diffinitive answer right about now as Im :x of searching

can you add a background like this? http://virtualplastic.net/html/wv_main.html#background

Yeah I can make a patterned background display through desktop.ini easily but I can't get a web view background to work, I cant even get web view to work. I've tried adding the registry key's and values that are recommended on virtualplastic, tried downloading their templates, ran webview installer, made the folder have system attributes, to no avail. Can anyone else throw me a suggestion?

did you try background wizard or ieshwiz.exe?

Yeah I tried ieshwiz, also downloaded the example desktop.ini from virtualplastic. Is XP SP2 incompatible with custom webviews? If not can someone show me an example of a fixed background desktop.ini /w folder.htt?

I got around the tiling issue by making the image roughly 2x larger than the visible area, so the tiling would be WAY off-screen.

So this image:

Would display like this:

Of course, the visible area will go off-screen as you start scrolling, and the only time you'll see the "display area" again will be when scrolling thru a window with hundreds of files, like Windows\system32. If you want your image to display more often, just reduce the tiling area.

Hope that helps. :)
