Where to buy!

I was also doing the math, with the amount of axis inputs from one controller available: It would be 100% completely possible to make a full glove that would detect each finger in relation to the glove. So you put your hand in the game, and ever finger is moving real-time as it is in real life.

Think of the possibilities if someone does this? :pinch:

the GameStop website lists a number of peripherals for release on November 1st. Included on the site, as spotted by consumer website GameSpot, is a Wii ?Controller Glove? for $9.99, a ?HD Premium Component Cable? for $59.99 and a ?S-Video Premium AV Cable? for $39.99.

BAM!

It would definately become the Touch Generation that Nintendo is going for. It would sure put a spin on alot of games. This would definately result in more realistic hand to hand combat, change stealth games and sports games as well. I'm sure there are a zillion more, such as a possible tickle game (look out for the fetishists out there). Pretty cool find if you ask me.

I can just picture myself picking a lock, full on judo chops in fighting games, flicking my wrist in hockey or blocking shots as a goalie etc....very cool.

edit: Just came back as I realized that the screenshots could very well be (dare I say it) PunchOut. Here's to hoping so....

can i ask what math you did?

4fingers only need 4axis

1thumb should have 2 axis

TOTAL 6 axis

? Nunchuck uses a 3 axis gyroscope, a 2 axis joystick and 2 buttons (that may or may not have axis' in them, bring the # up to a possible known 7 axis)

? Controller will be detecting your hands position.

So at the very least we could put 1 gyroscope on each of the 5 finger/thumb on the hand. Then put into the controller casing something that detects the proximity of your fingers to the controller to keep all of your fingers nice and calibrated. I'm not sure of the size of this kind of glove or anything, but the wii controller is extremely small, how big can those gyro's be? Even if it isn't a gyroscope but maybe a guided string on the back of your fingers pulling a bunch of little elastic variable resistors then translated into an axis. I could think of dozens of ways to design the proposed device. But I'm not making it, I'm just speculating =)

I think the more realistic product will be something more akin to the image you posted. Just a glove that secures the remote to your hand, so that your forearm, wrist and hand become the controller. Not entirely different than simply holding the remote in your hand, but it frees up your hand for whatever else.

They had something like this for the NES or SNES...

"I love the Power Glove! It's so bad!"

-The Wizard

NES was Power Glove. They learned their lesson after that. Although it doesn't appear that way...hmmmmm...

Of corse technology is so much better that there is a good chance they will pull this whole thing off very well. We will see if it improves gameplay or just leaves everyone with a very frusterating feeling like the Power Glove did.

Man, that thing was such crap. I had that and the U-Force and neither one made your game any better in Mike Tyson's Punch Out over a standard control pad. I wish I still had the U-Force, but I sold it to a friend for $10. I thought it worked better then the Power Glove. I threw the Power Glove in the trash eventually along with my NES Max (another horrible controller design by Nintendo).

Anyone seen this steering wheel for the wii?

gt-pro-series-20060908114711546.jpg

Info

...To enhance the user's driving experience, GT Pro Series will include a steering wheel attachment made by Thrustmaster specifically designed for this game. The Wii Remote will fit into wheel horizontally with all buttons accessible, so tilting the wheel will tilt the remote. The player will be able to steer the wheel just like an actual car!

Monster 4x4: World Circuit, another Wii launch title, is fully compatible and will bundle the steering wheel as well. Since all buttons on the remote are accessible while attached to the wheel, any racing game that uses the same style of control (horizontal and tilting Remote-only) should be able to use the wheel as well. [Ed's note: Excite Truck, Cars, and the racing portions of Sponge Bob will work with the wheel.]

^ Whoa that's neat.

P.S. Switchblade, the "Your" in your signature should be "You're."

There appears to be an increasing number of "Your" and "You're" mixups nowadays. Solution: Whenever you want to use "your" or "you're", type "you are". Then, read it to yourself and see if it makes sense. If it does, you're fine! If it doesn't, replace it with "your".

:p It helps me sleep at night  :shifty:

This drawing was made by a fan a few months ago. Since your personal settings are saved on the remote, the "controller glove" is probably just a bag to carry your remote when you go to your friend's house.

Ya it's fan image, although, no images of an official product has been listed yet and all we have to go off of is a website selling an announced product, so the picture can be considered conceptual. And for $10, I think the picture is a pretty accurate portrait of what you might expect.

(The controller actually saving personal settings is mainly rumor with good supporting evidence-memory on board. And I seriously doubt a glove to carry around a controller would sell very well, the thing is small enough to fit in your pocket.)

not my idea of sensing finger motion... that was just an idea I was throwing around :)

So many rumors and speculation it's hard to keep track of what has been officially announced

Lol yup, that's why I like to clarify things as rumored vs announced all the time. Also, just because it's been announced doesn't necessarily is going to come true either :p

just to make your head spin a little more ;)

    • Wow, imagine you dump hundreds of hours into completing things and unlocking stuff and you lose it all. Back in the day when cheats were built into games, you could at least unlock things again that way without spending hundreds of hours again. But those days are long gone for some reason as no one builds cheats into games anymore. So it's even more painful that studio that's on its 6th installment **** it up so badly.
    • Spotify finally removes the disco ball app icon in the latest update by Ivan Jenic Image: Spotify Spotify has just released an update that removes its now infamous disco ball icon. The update reverts the app icon to the familiar flat green logo after weeks of mixed reactions online. The icon arrived on May 13 as part of the company's 20th anniversary celebration and was always intended to be temporary, though Spotify only confirmed that after the backlash started. The disco ball took the internet by storm, as the reception was split. A vocal group of users called it ugly and disorienting, with some iOS users noting that the 3D glowing effect made the app look like it was stuck mid-update. On the other end, the icon picked up a following of its own. Its retro, three-dimensional look immediately stood out against the flat, minimalist aesthetic that has dominated app design for years. It even started a small movement, spawning what people started calling "discomorphism," a mashup of disco and skeuomorphism. Other brands started posting disco ball versions of their own logos, probably in an effort to ride the wave of memes that flooded the internet during late May. Spotify has had a turbulent relationship with its user base lately. Besides the disco ball icon, which certainly wasn't appreciated by everyone, the company has also received backlash for its willingness to include AI-generated music on its platform. On May 17, Spotify promised the old icon would return “in a few weeks.” And now it looks like that time has finally arrived. So, whether you liked the disco ball or it made you uncomfortable, it’s now gone for good. The next time you update the Spotify app on your phone, the old, flat-design icon will return.
