I have finally completed L4D and that awful Seriously-type achievement and got the 1000 points. That's my second 100% game, the first one being Burnout Paradise before the DLCs. I am so glad that I can use the L4D DVD for ball trap.

Back to Fallout 3 ...

That's why I don't go for the 1000's very often. Grinding for 1000 beyond the point that it stops being fun is something I won't do. Though I'd probably be in the top 5 of the leaderboard if I did...

In other news, broke 46k yesterday!

My 360 died

On my end I just had to stop my game of L4D because: 1) the bots shot a boomer in close proximity and 2) the one bot that I did not kill (yes, I killed the other two) specifically to avoid startling the witches decided to walk right up to the witch and startled her, immediately after they said, "Witch! Turn off your lights!" Makes me want to punch someone at Valve for the idiocy. That's probably my 10-15th attempt at getting the witch and boomer achievements.

congrats to vyk, mathachew and rookas for their hard work and milestones. agree that once frustration builds up, time to let go. no achievement is worth that. we each have our own threshold, so you know when enough is enough. those seriously-type deals, as vyk calls them, are a pain in the butt. would never aim for one of those.

sorry to hear about your machine jonny, what happened to her? how old was this console?

I finally got Do Not Disturb and Stomach Upset in Left 4 Dead. I would either end up killing each teammate or all but one teammate when we approached a witch. Even with one and me running away as fast as possible, the NPCs just love to pass with super slowness, nearly to the point that the which is startled. In chapter four, I got spewed on by a suddenly appearing boomer, but I still hadn't startled the which, so I eventually made it to the last safe room before the last chapter, which had no witches. I replayed the chapter again and finished it in about 30 minutes to get the Stomach Upset one. Hooray! Now to complete the game on Expert and then sell it.

I am not angry against L4D because of the zombie genocidest achievement. It was tedious but it was in the normal course of the game: just play it and the achievement

will pop up eventually. No, I am frustrated with that game because of the bad connections we had during the last three weeks after the release of the Survival Pack. The versus mode was so horrible because of the lag that it ended up in arguments and problems between my group of friends.

Now, the servers are better but that left a bitter taste in my mouth.

For the boomer achievement, play with 3 friends on Blood Harvest. Keep one bot because they can be marksman and shot through trees.

Blood Harvest because it's the map with the greatest open spaces. Put the subtitles too: you will get "Boomer Alert" sooner than listening to the bots. The most dangerous place is probably the wheat field of the finale. For the finale, go on the first level of the barn, the boomer always climb the ladder on the left.

For the witches, play with friends and stockpile on luck. Bots are useless. If you have a witch you cannot avoid, pass it one by one quickly and let the witch calm down if she gets too angry. The subtitles will help you too.

RRoD. My brother was downloading a demo from Marketplace and the thing just went nuts. He shut it off and that was the end of her. She's been on her last legs for a while now.

Console was my second from around July 2007. Hoping I get lucky and they send me a Jasper with HDMI out.

are you kidding? that was a two year run, you got it good. for sure this one will be a Jasper. What's the turnaround now in the UK? it should be quicker than around here.

Yeah, I suppose 2 years is quite a decent run compared to some less fortunate people.

I've heard it's 10-14 days, which isn't too bad. I've plenty of PS3 games to play anyway.

Just broke 26K thanks to me picking up the first game I played on the 360: Perfect Dark Zero. I'm grinding for the multiplayer achievements, most of which can be done in a relatively short time, but man this game is awful :p

don't mention the PS3 in this thread jonny, thanks...

anyway, the PDZ multiplayer achieves were a bit of a chore. if you guys want a fun game that's good for points get Matt Hazard, it's not ridiculously easy or anything but you're guaranteed a couple hundred points in the first hour or so.

Thanks for the advice, but I've already completed both of the achievements :D

This is what happens when I write novels instead of posts :p

Another game that seems to be really easy on the achievements is Terminator: Salvation. Stackable and solo game achievements, 1000 points for a few hours of gameplay. Get it from a bargain bin or for a rental, the reviews do not point to a GOTY candidate or may be for some sort of Razzies category.

I am still hooked on Fallout 3.

In other news, Mr. Shreik is 50 points away from a 6 figure GamerScore ...

nice! this has put me in a sentimental mood, got me to thinking it's almost three years since i got the 360, well two and a half...seems like yesterday i was going home from the store with that box, wondering if i'll get re-used to console gaming, if the games will be any good...oh man life just passes us by. You young folk best cherish it while it lasts.

    • I have never been a huge fan of libre, it feels really good but exactly when you need an advance feature for data wrangling it falls short every time or has bugs. I am all for euro office if they can deliver a good and usable alternative to MS office with backing of govt function.
    • Go on, I'll bite. How does windows (nice comment on an 'article' which doesn't actually involve it ) lock users out of their data then? Been using it since 3.1 back in 92 and not once have I been locked out of my data? Perhaps you mean Bitlocker? In which case the average user (who doesn't mess about) will have been forced to use a MSA, and in which case the recovery key would have been saved to said account..... If the user did happen to bodge around and not use an MSA then Bitlocker wouldn't have become live (as it cannot without a safe place to store the key) I want to point out Bitlocker and MSA are not connected and you can of course force it on without a safe place to store the key, but you do that with your eyes open. So your standard consumer who knows no better sets up an MSA, gets bitlocker and a recovery key stored off box, with a route to reset their password. All of this notwithstanding the fact, if your data is important, you back it up, no ifs, no buts, no-ones responsibility other than your own. Important data lives in at least two locations, one of which is offline and recovery is tested, otherwise that data wasn't really that important. Disks, fail, laptops get lost, phones end up down the toilet, tablets get stolen, if your only copy of data is on a single device you're doing it wrong.
    • Clearly that feature isn't for us. It's for the ad spam marketers so they can more directly target us about going to places we might want to go again...but without understanding context clues. Like for the flight someone took for a friend's funeral. We want to be reminded of that every time we open an app, a browser, or email, right? Right, Siri?
    • Is your Apple Watch supported? Check the watchOS 27 compatibility list by Aditya Tiwari Apple kicked off WWDC 2026 with a ton of announcements, mostly centered around Apple Intelligence improvements, the Siri AI, and Liquid Glass updates. However, there is a lot of other stuff that couldn't catch the limelight. Let's talk about watchOS 27 and which models are supported by the newest operating system. According to the Cupertino giant, watchOS 27 will be supported on the following Apple Watch models when it arrives later this year: Apple Watch Ultra 3 Apple Watch Series 11 Apple Watch SE 3 Apple Watch Series 10 Apple Watch Ultra 2 It's a stark contrast with last year's watchOS 26 update, which had almost a dozen Apple Watch models in its list of supported devices. Apple supported models all the way back to Apple Watch Series 6. That said, if you own one of the five models, you'll need an iPhone 11 (or later) with iOS 27 to install the latest update. Yes, Apple has shown some extra love to the iPhone 11, and it old horse supports the iOS 27 update. watchOS 27 beta 1 is now available for developers and interested power users through the Apple Developer Program. So, if you're among those who like to play with fire, you can download it to your supported Apple Watch. Otherwise, the public beta for watchOS 27 will be available next month. The freshly baked Apple Watch update comes with Siri AI - an advanced, fully conversational version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence due for later this year. A new dynamic app grid features icons for five Siri-suggested apps. You can use a new tap gesture to open a widget in the Smart Stack, and a new Find My app finally clears the mess of Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People on Apple Watch. Workout Buddy can run without an iPhone nearby and offers new insights based on data, including your progress for pace, distance, and workout duration. Apple improved its motion tracking algorithms to measure the distance of indoor treadmill runs and walks more precisely. Speaking of other changes, the music playback on watchOS 27 starts faster and you can create custom passes for any membership or card that uses a QR code or barcode, then easily access them in the Wallet app or pin in the Smart Stack.
    • "and pull old flight details from your email during back-and-forth conversations" The Siri I've become to know and trust. I've always wanted to pull info on old flights. /s
