Battlestar Galactica Season 3

Recommended Posts

I find it strange no one has talked about it lately.

Season 3 starts today :D

I don't think these first episodes will be action packed, but they sure have a lot of tension

Here are 2 nice links for news, synopsis and chats about BSG.

I have NEVER heard of Battlestar Galactica until I heard that Lucy Lawless was going to appear on some episodes. LOL!

I'll keep an eye out for Lucy!

OMG surely you are joking.

Looking forward to this, the webisode's where great, short but great.

I've been anxiously awaiting season 3 ever since season 2 ended....the webisodes on the Sci Fi website have helped to show what daily life is like under the Cylon occupation.

There's an interview posted at the site where several of the actors say the first 4 hours of season 3 are some of the best episodes ever shot...so my expectations are set pretty high for tonight's show. I just wish I could get SciFi in high definition.

Season 3 is going to rock. And just miffed that Im going to miss the premiere and the rerun this weekend. *sigh* Guess I'll have to download it.

too bad I won't be home tonight...crap I guess i'll have to download it.

Yes..yes...must download it from Itunes ASAP. :shifty:

I really enjoyed both episodes. :woot:

I've been watching BSG on and off for some time and I still don't understand the cylons' motivation. Does anyone know?

They're driven by a religeous ideology. The occupation was part of the plan to gap the divide between them and the humans

The first 2 episode was great, can't wait for next week.

I think the Cylons believe they're closer to God than the humans are.

The end of the 2nd episode put me on the edge of my seat. The preview of the 3rd episode put me at ease. So far Battlestar Galactica has been great.

Spoiler time! :D --->

Judging from the preview for upcoming episodes, it looks as if the Cylons are headed for Earth, to make it their new home. And the humans have a plan to wipe out the Cylon "race".

I just got time today to watch it and WOW. W-O-W. For a moment I thought I was watching something comming from Iraq. In this case, the american ocupation forces = cylons. The Human resistance = the iraqi ppl. The ppl fight for their freedom with the only weapons they have. Even more the cylons has a human squad to control the humans. The fiction so close to the reality.

This confirm why this series is by far the first 21st century series (at least to me). I cant wait to this week!

to be honest I was thinking about the Iraq vs US thing too.

I continue to be disappointed in this show. The first season was good but its been all downhill from there. I gave it another chance and that will be it for me. The rough 'Insurgency' talk was a bit annoying as well and just wasn't good sci-fi IMO. (N)

I normally try not to argue opinions, since obviously it's very hard to pursuade people from their own opinions. But I think you are (literally) the first person I've ever seen say they are disappointed in the show. Frankly, I think BSG is the best show on TV in YEARS. The writing and acting are superb and each week they take on new parallels with current events in our lives, and really put them into perspective for me (and I assume alot of others) and give you alot to think on.

But really, it's all opinions in the end.

I do like parts of the show, just not the soap opera aspect of it. The original mini-series was great and so was much of the first season. Overall my biggest gripe is the mysticism and lack of good science fiction. They don't experiment with new ways of handling a problem, if anything they are more regressive in many aspects than we even are today. Its like the dark ages in space with two religions fighting each other.

to be honest I was thinking about the Iraq vs US thing too.

I was thinking something similar as well.

It could be just complete coincidence, but I can see a lot of parallels between the Cylons and Humans and Western/eastern views today.

And I'm pretty sure that the Cylons are meant to represent us (the western world, possibly mainly America) from a different viewpoint. Especially when they constantly mention about bringing their ONE God "to the people". Then the occupation of New Caprica would almost certainly be a reference to the occupation of Iraq.

The suicide bombings by the humans make it almost obvious that this is in some way meant to make you think about the Iraqi people's point of view on things

.

Then when you look at how much the Humans in BSG hate the Cylons, how they're so willing to completely mistreat them, throw them out of airlocks etc. and compare that to some Iraqi rebels capturing someone and cutting their head off and it really, really really does seem like a very clever reference to our world today.

What does anyone else think?

    • Microsoft will soon allow some users to block Copilot from analyzing their Office files by Usama Jawad Microsoft Purview is a pretty useful data governance, security, and management service that allows customers to gain enhanced visibility and control over their content. It's meant for commercial customers, such as organizations that are storing data at scale. As AI continues to expand and infiltrate every corner of a firm, many are a bit conscious about the technology gaining access to their confidential data. Microsoft is now making a configuration change that will allow such customers to rest easy. Right now, users within an organization have the option to apply Purview sensitivity labels (when available) to secure certain files and label them as such. For example, if you apply the "Confidential" label on an Excel file, the file will be encrypted, and a "confidential" watermark will be applied to it. So, if this file is shared with anyone, they are aware that its access is supposed to be restricted. Up until now, Microsoft was allowing some connected experiences, like its AI services, to analyze files, regardless of their sensitivity label. This is of major concern to most organizations, as a recent example highlighted how confidential emails with data loss prevention (DLP) policies like privacy labels were being uploaded to Copilot for analysis. As such, Microsoft is updating an existing Purview data label sensitivity setting that prevents "some connected experiences that analyze content", from being blocked completely from doing this. The label isn't changing, but the blocking is now being enforced across all connected services (including Copilot and other AI tools), and now extends to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Files with the label applied already will get this enhancement automatically too once it becomes available. Microsoft has urged IT admins to inform their respective helpdesk and compliance teams, update internal documentation, and review sensitivity labels to ensure that they meet their respective compliance needs. This change is tagged as MC1297982 in the Message Center. General availability is scheduled to begin in a phased manner soon and will complete by the end of next month. That said, it is important to note that this only applies to commercial customers who have a license that allows them to use Purview.

    • All versions is correct. The bug appears on any version of Windows with KB5094126 installed. It's a little insane to expect the author to explain that systems that can't possibly have that patch installed, will not experience the bug. If you have any gripe about the title, it would be that it doesn't mention the update at all, but I wouldn't agree with that either. A title is not expected to be a full summery of the article.
