OneCare 1.5 Beta just started!

Yes, i know, but i wonder if this is not kinda "monopolistic" tactic to get rid of other anti-virus solutions already present on clients' machines.

Yes, i know it's not good to have 2 antivirus installed and running at the same time, but all installs offer some "Ignore this" button to keep installing at your own risk. Here it is more like "take it or leave it" :pinch:

You have no idea how many IDIOTS would have 4 AV programs on their PC's if they could... this is a good measure, I'm running Vista and i was tired of PcCillin... it's just plain annoying (even more than UAC) so thank god there's now another AV for Vista which i trust

Has anyone else experienced these problems? Anyone figure out a solution?

I had that error also. It took me 12 attempts to finally get it installed. I kept getting an error saying that something required by OneCare didn't install correctly and the computer had to be restarted. Below it, it said "Error Code:" but there was no error code next to it. When it finally did install correctly it seemed like it was working fine.

Then I left and came back a little later and a window had come up saying "OneCare must connect to the internet to complete the installation". So I clicked on Continue and after about 2 minutes of waiting another window came up saying that "No active connection was found. OneCare could not complete the installation". I tried this about 10 times and I finally just said SCREW IT and uninstalled it.

This thing needs major work done.

OneCare itself is an anti-virus and firewall, I bet if you already have OneCare installed Avast will force you to uninstall it to install the same way OneCare asked you to remove Avast.

It does. I forgot to uninstall OneCare before I went and start to re-install Avast again and got a prompt.

The one who says that's just Microsoft being "monopolistic" has never used anything other than one anti-virus app form the sounds of it. It should be common sense to any average PC user that trying to install two anti-virus programs is cause for some issues.

I installed it and it took about 5 minutes and my pc was full of spyware after just reading some newspapers online on the net. I restarted the pc and it reported 4 spyware and trojans. I cleaned the system with onecare and was told to reboot. After reboot I couldn't connect to the internet anymore.

I reinstalled Vista RC2 again and only using windows defender abd Trend Micro AV and everything runs fine now. Guess it's not ready yet the Oncare program.

That's just hilarious, dude get real, there's no way your PC would get infected in just 5 minutes by JUST reading newspapers, If you don't like the product and wish to bash it, do it in a more credible way, on the other hand just to give you a little credit, your PC might had already been infected before installing OneCare and your previous protection software didn't even report anything about it. your networking and internet setup was probably already messed up by the spyware and after it was removed of course it would not work, did you try fixing the connection setup? in any case don't blame the product because it warned you about the infection, that's what's designed for.

I installed OneCare on my XP and I ran the "Tune Up" scan. After the scan, it said that it had found a worm and OneCare stopped it (or trashed it). So, I went to check on one of my mapped networked drives and I couldn't access it anymore. I restarted the computer and it still didn't access it. So, I went and did a system restore to a point where I hadn't installed OneCare and all is now well in my PC world.

...stupid Windows Live OneDon'tCare. lol

You don't forget that this is a BETA!

It installed fine for me, but kept locking up. A couple of reboots later, everything appeared to be working correctly. It detected one of my IRC scripts as a virus, but I think (hope) it was a false positive since it is an anti spam script. Now it is blocking me out of Remote Desktop even though it was allowed in the firewall previously (in RC2). I am sort of pi**ed off right now.

    • OpenAI is now rolling out Lockdown Mode to more ChatGPT users by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in February, OpenAI first announced Lockdown Mode for users who want the most comprehensive protection from potential attacks. At the time of the announcement, the company mentioned that this feature was available to a small set of highly security-conscious users, including executives or security teams at leading organizations. Today, OpenAI announced that Lockdown Mode is now rolling out to all personal ChatGPT accounts, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro, and also self-serve ChatGPT Business accounts. Users can enable the feature from ChatGPT Settings > Security when it is available for their account. When Lockdown Mode is enabled, ChatGPT limits or disables several features that connect to the web or external services. These include live web browsing, Deep Research, Agent Mode, and more. Here is the complete list of services that will be disabled in Lockdown Mode: Live web browsing: Web browsing is limited to accessing only cached content. Search results may be limited, unavailable, or stale. Image support: ChatGPT may not display images in regular responses or retrieve images from the web. Users can still upload image files, and image generation remains available where it is otherwise available. Deep research: Deep research is disabled. Agent mode: Agent mode is disabled. Canvas networking: Users cannot approve Canvas-generated code to access the network. File downloads: ChatGPT cannot download files for data analysis. ChatGPT can still operate on your manually uploaded files. It is important to note that Lockdown Mode does not completely block prompt injections from appearing in content that ChatGPT processes. For example, a malicious instruction could still be present in an uploaded file or cached web content. However, the mode is designed to reduce the ways such an attack could send sensitive information outside the conversation. Along with Lockdown Mode, OpenAI today also announced that the Active sessions feature is now available across ChatGPT accounts and workspace types. This feature allows users to review where their account is signed in across devices and end sessions if required. A session will have the following information displayed: Device or browser information. First-party app context, such as ChatGPT, Codex, or API Platform. Approximate location. Sign-in date and time. Whether the device is a trusted device. Whether it is your current session. OpenAI highlighted that the Active sessions feature will not be available for accounts linked to an organization’s single sign-on setup, including SAML or OIDC.
