"Dexter" attracted 603,000 viewers for its premiere Oct. 1, and viewership has reportedly risen since then, although Showtime does not make its ratings public. The series has been renewed for a second season of 12 episodes that will likely premiere late next year. The current season concludes Dec. 17.

Hall, 35, and Krause, 41, played brothers David and Nate Fisher, respectively, on "Six Feet Under," which ran on HBO for five seasons, ending in August 2005.

Yeah it was renewed half way through first season...I was pleased to hear it was renewed :)

It's going to be interesting having Dexter on the run, Sergeant Doakes mentioned in Series 1 that Dexter gave him the creeps and he had an eye on him.

I suppose it is far better the way they have led to Dexter being a man on the run in the next series, after developing his character throughout the first to give you a proper look at the 'true' Dexter Morgan.

I haven't read the books, but as far as I know it's loosely based on them or is it more strictly based on them?

I've been watching my way through season 1 and I absolutely love this show. The writing is excellent, I know it was based on a novel and it really shines through. Really pleased it's got a second season, though it does slightly tell me how the first season will end.

Can't wait for the series to kick off again, it was one of the underdogs that got a cult following but everyone i have told about the series has been amazed at the quality of the show and its characters. Hopefully it will get a bit more attention this time around. Hmmm September is shaping up to be a good month for TV, House, Heroes and Dexter. Can't complain!
