WB to Re-Release The Dark Knight Jan. 23

Warner Bros. Pictures is bringing The Dark Knight back for a return engagement in theaters and IMAX on January 23, 2009, giving audiences one more chance to see the film on the big screen. The film will re-open nationwide, it was announced today by Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution.

In making the announcement, Fellman stated, "'The Dark Knight' is a crowning achievement in every sense of the word. We wanted to provide one more opportunity for moviegoers to experience it on the big screen as it was meant to be seen."

One of the most celebrated and successful films of this or any year, The Dark Knight has been hailed by both critics and audiences since its original release last July. The film garnered widespread acclaim for its artistic and technical achievements, including the work of its outstanding cast and its director, Oscar?-nominated filmmaker Christopher Nolan (Memento).

Led by Christian Bale, reprising his role from Batman Begins, and Academy Award? nominee Heath Ledger (Brokeback Mountain), the ensemble cast also includes Academy Award? winner Michael Caine (The Cider House Rules), Gary Oldman (the "Harry Potter" films), Aaron Eckhart (Thank You for Smoking), Maggie Gyllenhaal (Stranger Than Fiction), and Academy Award? winner Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby).

In addition, critics and moviegoers alike applauded Nolan's revolutionary use of IMAX cameras to film some of the most challenging action sequences ever created?a first for a major feature film.

Nolan directed The Dark Knight from a screenplay written by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Christopher Nolan produced the film, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers.

Collaborating with Nolan behind the scenes were two-time Oscar?-nominated director of photography Wally Pfister (The Prestige, Batman Begins), Oscar?-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley (The Prestige), Oscar?-nominated editor Lee Smith (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World) and Oscar?-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (Topsy-Turvy). The music is by Oscar? winner and multiple Oscar? nominee Hans Zimmer (The Lion King, Gladiator) and seven-time Oscar? nominee James Newton Howard (Michael Clayton, The Fugitive), who previously collaborated on the score for Batman Begins.

Originally released on July 18, 2008, The Dark Knight broke virtually every possible box office record to become the top-grossing film of 2008 and the second-highest grossing movie (domestically) of all time.

Interviews with the cast (Including Heath) Behind the scenes (Joker Skateboarding!)

Exactly, I already watched the movie once in theater. I would rather enjoy it in 1080p at home then go to theater again. (atleast I can pause the movie if I had to take a dump).

its all about the IMAX! I did see this when it first came out in IMAX, its not viewing a movie its like feeling it. I saw 300 twice in IMAX too :shiftyninja:

Anyone notice he killed Lau without him screaming? He was sitting on top of the money and then the joker set it on fire and then we never see him again.

Well I think they wanted to keep it PG... The Joker got hit so much yet didn't even bleed.

I saw both Batman Begins and the Dark Knight yesterday. Not very overly impressed with either. Dark Knight was very good, but not excellent like everyone says. I also watched Bourne Identity yesterday, and enjoyed that more than the Dark Knight or Batman Begins.

To each their own :)

Oh come on, the Bourne series is terrible compared to Batman... and I'm not saying the Batman movies are amazing either. :p

    • Poll: Grand Theft Auto VI price predictions, cast your vote by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe After years of waiting, Rockstar will be solidifying the launch date of Grand Theft Auto VI with the launch of pre-orders next week. While the studio has confirmed a date for this occasion, it is yet to attach a price to the highly anticipated game. So let's see what our readers think it will cost at launch. The Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will kick off on June 25 for digital and physical editions. Unless some last-minute changes happen, the release date will be November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, there's still no information about a PC version from the developer or the publisher Take-Two. Now the question becomes, how much will Grand Theft Auto VI cost at launch? The game is predicted by some analysts to be the biggest launch of an entertainment product ever. With the amount of hype that has been built behind it and with ballooning development costs, Take-Two may price this Grand Theft Auto entry differently from other AAA titles. The current price of a AAA game is $69.99. That norm almost rose to $79.99 before calming down. But with such a massive release, Grand Theft Auto VI may be the game that pushes the boundary again. It's also possible that Take-Two keeps the price relatively low to increase the number of players that jump in early and keep them hooked on Grand Theft Auto Online to spend on microtransactions for years to come. Keep in mind that the below poll is asking for a prediction of the standard edition price, not a deluxe or any other special edition that Take-Two will introduce for additional benefits. Also, there is the chance of the company splitting up the campaign and online portions. If you think that will happen, put your vote on what you think will be the total cost of the two.
