Xbox 2

if M$ is smart they'll wait till after the ps3 comes out so they see what their up against, if the xbox 2 comes out first sony will have the advantage, just as xbox did when it came out after ps2. ps2 is due 1quarter 2005. both are currently on the drawing boards.

you can argue that..

btw, did xbox have the advantage over ps2 because it came out later?

or you're just talking about the hardware... again?

The playstation 2 had the advantage of releasing early, not the other way around. PS2's userbase was already too massive for the others to catch up by the time Xbox was released.

I'd like to see both consoles, Xbox2 and PS3, released on exactly the same day. That will be interesting.

well its both hardware and perception to the masses. ms had a chance to see what the ps2 was capable of and tweaked the xbox accordingly, in other words they knew what direction to go in.

Also percetion to the masses was an advantge, kinda of like someone thinking well ps2 has been out for 1 year and a half (at the time of the xbox release) and people will automactically initally believe that the xbox is new and better technology and thus buy it, ever since the rush when xbox first came out, the sales have not been as strong, and if anything ps2 is coming out on top once again financially. Since the xbox has been released things have leveled off cause people know know that the diffrence between ps2 and xbox is minimal with xbox having slightly smoother graphics.

btw i own a ps2 ;)

Sony has too much of the market share your rt, but sony must stay on their p's and q's to stay on top

we all remember when sony came out with something called the playstation and the giants nintendo and sega laughed. well all know what happened now dont we...lol

MS loses money on every xbox sold, ps2 doesnt. and $ is what counts to them. xbox is pinnig hopes on the live extension of xbox to try and regain some of its losses thus you have the subscription service, and to which is centralized to ms servers which will be a network nightmare in time

It would be even better is the next Nintendo system, the xbox2 and the PS3 were all released on the same day. Nintendo isn't going anywhere people, they themselves said that they will be in the hardware business for quite a long time.
