icon11.gif BitTorrent is a P2P system that makes transfering large files (or groups of files) amongst a large group of people easy, fast and efficient. The BitTorrent network is impressive mostly for the speed and reliability with which you get files that have been recently released. As long as a .torrent file has enough people sharing then you can be assured that it will start quickly and maintain a good download speed. Always remember to leave your BitTorrent client open to help distribute the files!

icon13.gif Read the FAQ before installing AutoPatcher

icon13.gif IE6SP1 is a major update, if you dont have it installed prior to using autopatcher, make sure its selected for installation the first time you do, otherwise there can be serious consequences. Also note that some updates will only be available to install after IE6SP1 is installed, so youll need to run AP at least twice.

BTW, For whom interested:

I was cleaning old month's files - the mid-month KB925486 is clrealy included by Oct's release.

However, I had a lurking "Windows2000-KB925308-x86-ENU.EXE" which I wasn't sure if included or not...

A quick check at uncle google told me it's incorporated in the Oct's included "KB920958: Security Update for Windows 2000 (v2)".

:)

Again - thanks for the great work!

Windows 2000 support is finished my MS on October 2006.

So Autopatcher Win2000 November or December 2006 should be in the form of a full package,

because MS will no longer provide security patchs for Win2000,

and a Full Pack will be must-have, to eternally keep up to date any new install of Win2000SP4,

coz no more patchs will be to add in the Pack !

Thanks to think about that !

Wrong! XP SP1 support ended in October 2006. 2000 support doesn't end until July 13, 2010.

the_guy

Really ???

Actually I have read an article in which it was said end of support for :

- Win2000 : october 2006. (you can see yourself what MS says about the end for Win2000, in the Download page of Windows Defender Final...)

- WinXPSP2 : 2H 2009.

So, if XPSP2 finishes its support in 2009, how come the older Win2000 is still suported until end of 2010 ?

There is something I dont get it, here...

Let's see if patches come again for Win2000 in 2007...

What are your sources ?...

Thanks.

win2k is in "extended support", mainstream support ended last year. So it'll get security patches, but nothing that adds new features, etc.

From http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/s.../about/faq.mspx

"Windows Defender is primarily a consumer antispyware solution. Windows 2000 was not a popular consumer operating system and mainstream support ended on June 30, 2005."

BUG?

When I install AutoPatcher i cant run it. When I do double click on icon notting happens. From FAQ I learned that I need to run module in tools folder, but that folder doesnt exist in autopatcher installation folder!!!

What can I do now?

You must run "AutoPatcher Module Editor.exe" file in C:\Program Files\AutoPatcher\tools folder (if you have installed AutoPatcher in "C:\Program Files" folder.

Do you read what I have already writen? THERE IS NO TOOLS FLODER. The Autopatcher program doesnt install this section at all. Maybe older version do - and when you do upgrade you dont notice this [because old files remain] but this version DONT.

I have read it... but it's no possible! Which AutoPatcher version(s) did you download (mirror, month(s), etc.)? Which AutoPatcher version(s) did you install?

You must install a full release and all updates until October... please post more informations.

Thanks.

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
