dysektor
Search. But anyways, most people like VoptXP, Diskeeper or O & O Defrag.
xWeston
I just defrag with the windows tool ;) I know that speeddisk and others may do a better job, but oh well - it doesnt make a huge performance difference anyway
T@RicK
I may have posted an incomplete thread ... what i wanted this thread to have is a REVIEW of all the major DEFRAG software used with XP, Please post ur opinions and comments about the one you like to use and why u like to use. munki
PerfectDisk 2000. :)
dysektor
SpeedDisk and the Windows XP Defragger clash. I believe you should turn off XP's 3-day defrag cycle if you use SpeedDisk because they undo each other's changes.
T@RicK
How do u do that ... turn off the 3 day routine
deimos
Ok, this is like the 10th thread about defraggin in the last 2 weeks. Just use diskeeper people!!
gtksxp
Diskeeper 7. The BEST. Period.
dysektor
Tariq, do a search at TweakXP. I do not remember the registry setting. I, however, like VoptXP and O & O Defrag better than Diskeeper...
WiNnErPL
Another vote for diskeeper here
AGMW
Diskeeper without a doubt.
purush
I have tried all the defrag softwares, but found O&O to be the one that does a thorough job. Two thumbs up for O&O
Insanity_Check
wouldn't it be nice if file systems didn't fragment? i heard that the new linux filesystems don't fragment. is this true? (don't answer unless you know for a fact)
Xahid
Diskeeper 7 for me ! it really rocks ! at least in my case, it speeds up about 30% !!! I've also tried O&O defrag, but it have lots of useless option for newbie!!! and i didn't see any difference in performance after using O&O (with its diff. methods) yea one thing more, its very slower then diskeeper !!! Vlad
Linux filesystems do fragment. Generally at a slower rate than NTFS/FAT32, though. ext3/reiserfs don't even have a defrag program, if that tells you anything. XFS has one, but it's not in as widespread use as ext3/reiserfs (for the average user anyways). As for windows - Diskeeper is the best.
