3d Vr World Cybertown Is Going To Subscription!

This morning, Founder of Cybertown Hawk discussed Cybertown's future with about thousands of members attended to hear an important annoucement!

And, what a Bad News it was for Cybertown and it's members! He basically said that begining January next year, members will have to PAY $5 dollars in order to use Cybertown!

With this BAD news comes the good news first (as u will see in this transcript) - He said a company called IVN will host Cybertown, and they are developing a secretive communication Software like No other (Revolutionary-like), called Silhouette. Hawk said it's very confidential, he can't tell us more about it.

In the end, the bad news overwhelms the good news to CT members. So Many people (MOST) have complained, and threatens to NOT pay, and we think Cybertown is likely going to suffer from this and will shut down eventually. We'll have to see! I am not optimistic, cause I will NOT pay myself! I know some other will Do it, but I don't think it will be enough!

What's the significance of all this? You might not care, but the history of Cybertown is worth knowing! :)

Cybertown was founded in 1995, almost 7 years ago. And believe it or not, I was a member back then all the way in 1996!

Back then, I were on a 14.4 - 28.8K modem, and it's site is very graphical intensive, one of the few really. So, it was unique even then!

Today, it uses Blaxxun Contact to power it's VRML chatting world, which has gotten way bigger over the years - More communities, more CT jobs, more CT events, etc.

Cybertown's features is a quite impressive one:

1,008,323 registered citizens!!! (Yeah contains many socks, and those never came back after day one)

A private 3D VR (virtual reality) home with your own personal chat, inbox, message board and free e-mail. You can invite your friends over to hang out, chat and party - all in full 3D!

The Cybertown shopping malls and Flea Markets where you can buy, sell or trade cool 3D objects for your home.

A Virtual Pet for your home.

Customizable bodies to use in the 3D worlds.

Ongoing Role-Playing Games.

Interesting Clubs with 3D Clubhouses to join or start your own.

Awesome movie theaters and music concerts.

The Black Sun Club where you can dance in 3D and listen to your favorite tunes.

Live events and celebrity chats.

The opportunity to get a virtual job, earn CityCash and become a respected citizen of a large intergalactic online community.

    • There is a huge portion of the Windows users who use a cooperate provided computer, which means they are using an organization provided username and not a Microsoft username. Also, they users may not be allowed to install a 3rd party browser, so this would be perfect for them.
    • COBOL itself is not the problem. Code that has been bodged and kludged over decades but still somehow runs is probably the sort of Gordian knot that even AI can't necessarily unravel.
    • Nice devices but my Surface Pro 9 got bricked from a Windows Update efter only three years. Never buying a device from MS again.
