Cooling for Antec Sonata II

Recommended Posts

Spec:

Antec Sonata Piano II with 1*120mm outflow on the back (+120mm outflow from PSU), Intel C2D E6600 (stock speed, stock cooler), GF 7900.

The CPU core idles around 43-45C (speedfan, Intel TAT), at 10min full load (TAT) it reaches 65-68C, pretty normal in other words. The graphic card idles around 42C (core).

I'm not thinking of OC the CPU because of the (budget-)memory (Corsair Value Selected)

I'm currently using the Intel stock cooler, but it is way to noisy and doesn't cool well. An additional part of the chassi (optional, not installed at the moment) is the air duct, which can be seen here: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/217/3/ . The chassi also supports an additional 120mm fan in the front, which preferably can be used as inflow.

With that background information, NOW let go to the questions :)

1. Which CPU-cooler do you recommend for socket 775? Noise and cooling capability should be taken into consideration.

2. Should I install the airduct with an 80mm and 92mm fan OR a 120mm fan in the chassi? Both you say? Isn't that going to be noisy? ... and quite expensive...

To outline the first question, what do you think about Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro? http://www.silentpcreview.com/article285-page1.html . As you can see the fan is located on the SIDE of the heat exchangers, in case I buy this one I'll most probably rotate the cooler in direction for the warm air to blow towards the rear of the chassi - i.e. towards the 120mm outflow. Could this affect the choise in question #2?

Thanks in advance!
