It's better to convert it to .mp3 or .ogg from .wav after the initial ripping

Why? If I do it that way, I must rip the CD as .wav then select to make an mp3 cd and finally copy everything back to the PC. Thats going around your ass to get to your elbow, isn't it?

During installation it says "Buy the Upgrade to Ashampoo Burning Studio 6!" and on that website it has a picture of Burning Studio 5, so it must be version 5.

Just ignore that, it's Ashampoo Burning Studio 2007 - 6.20:

So since on the Ashampoo site the last version is 6.30 this is the regular Ashampoo Burning Studio 6.20 free (maybe a 2007 Special Build For Computeractive) :)

Also, If you go to Internet --> Buy Ashampoo Burning Studio 6...you can pick up the the full version for 10 bucks :)

But yes, this looks like a free stripped-down version or Burning Studio 6. The only things that are missing are VideoCD and Backup support...

Ashampoo sure has alot of special offers hidden everywhere :shifty:

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
