Sigh, what this world is coming to. Absolutely disgusting. Personally if she's found guilty I think they should put her in a microwave.

But remember, she's only under the "suspicion" of doing this.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- A mother was arrested on suspicion of murdering her newborn daughter by microwaving the baby in an oven.

China Arnold, 26, was jailed Monday on a charge of aggravated murder, more than a year after she brought her dead month-old baby to a hospital. Bail was set Tuesday at $1 million.

"We have reason to believe, and we have some forensic evidence that is consistent with our belief, that a microwave oven was used in this death," said Ken Betz, director of the Montgomery County coroner's office.

He said the evidence included high-heat internal injuries and the absence of external burn marks on the baby, Paris Talley.

Arnold was arrested soon after the baby's death in August 2005, then was released while authorities investigated further. Betz said the case was difficult because "there is not a lot of scientific research and data on the effect of microwaves on human beings."

The death was ruled a homicide caused by hyperthermia, or high body temperature. The absence of external burns ruled out an open flame, scalding water or a heating pad as the cause, Betz said.

Arnold's lawyer, Jon Paul Rion, said his client had nothing to do with her child's death and was stunned when investigators told her that a microwave might have been involved. (Watch the mother's lawyer insist she's innocent )

"China -- as a mother and a person -- was horrified that such an act could occur," Rion said.

The night before the baby was taken to the hospital, Arnold and the child's father went out for a short time and left Paris with a baby sitter, Rion said. The mother didn't sense anything out of the ordinary until the next morning, when the child was found unconscious, Rion said.

Arnold has three other children.

In 2000, a Virginia woman was sentenced to five years in prison for killing her month-old son in a microwave oven. Elizabeth Renee Otte claimed she had no memory of cramming her son in the microwave and turning on the appliance in 1999.

Experts said that Otte suffered from epilepsy and that her seizures were followed by blackouts.

Maybe I misunderstand the way bail works, but does that mean if she was rich enough to afford it she could just pay her bail and walk out? If so, how the hell can they justify any kind of bail option for that kind of crime.

Innocent until proven guilty anyone?

I know this, and I said in my post she's only suspected of doing it. But that doesn't stop people (and you know this as much as I do) from condemning her instantly regardless.

Maybe I misunderstand the way bail works, but does that mean if she was rich enough to afford it she could just pay her bail and walk out? If so, how the hell can they justify any kind of bail option for that kind of crime.

Yep that's how it works. In these sorts of cases, ie: high profile murders or something the bail is usually set pretty high though. $1 Million for the average person is a tad high to just "walk out" though, normally.

In theory, innocent until proven guilty is how it's supposed to be. However, speaking from experience, more often than not, you're guilty until proven innocent. There was an "incident" that occured that I fell under the umbrella of suspicion for. I had to PROVE my INNOCENCE to be cleared, and not have the accuser PROVE my GUILT.

Welcome to a screwed up legal system.......

I wonder what made them not suspect the babysitter. After all, if she assumed the baby was asleep when she got home, and didn't realize the problem until later.... Why couldn't the babysitter have done it?

As sick as this is, nothing seems to surprise me anymore. Even more so seeing as it's in the States.

If you think the States are disturbing I'm guessing you forgot where the "dark ages" were located and what went on there.

      Microsoft Teams gets smarter at spotting sneaky meeting bots by Usama Jawad Microsoft Teams is set to receive a couple of new features soon, including a dedicated Recap app and a rather controversial location tracking functionality. The Redmond tech giant has also explained how it has made online communication and collaboration a lot more performant this year. Now, the company has detailed more secure bot admission mechanisms, as first reported by us in March 2026, and now available in Teams. As the use of AI has expanded across enterprise environments, Microsoft has begun allowing users to integrate bots into their meetings for various tasks, such as note-taking. While this has a tangible productivity benefit for users, Microsoft has highlighted how misconfiguration has allowed bots to join meetings that they shouldn't. This has created security and privacy risks, which Microsoft is now combating using a new Teams admin policy that allows organizers to control how external bots access meetings. Admins can leverage a policy called Manage external bots and their access to meetings. The default configuration is "When detected, require approval before joining", which places detected bots in a lobby before they are explicitly admitted into the meeting. The other option disables the experience. Microsoft has also requested admins to only allow organizers and co-organizers to manage access to a meeting, so that other people don't randomly allow bots into meetings. Teams will now be able to leverage infrastructure signals to intelligently detect and distinguish between bots and humans. Then if you have the correct TPM then allow you to use X feature, if you don't have the correct TPM then don't but still actually let you run windows. 11.
