Creating MS Word template for 4x6" cards?

Question

It's been awhile since I've setup any templates or used the tab rulers in Word, wondering how you would go about creating 4x6 cards in MS Word, wanting to type out some recipes, print on regular printer paper, and cut out for a book as a gift, but not sure how to format the page to not make this a pain in the ass. Can anyone help?

/Thanks.

peace,

If none of the MS templates suit your needs, you can set the paper size yourself by doing the following (I use centimeters, but substitute inches if you prefer...):

  1. Create New Document
  2. Go to File, Page Setup
  3. Click on Paper Size
  4. Choose Custom Size
  5. Set Width as 15.24 CM
  6. Set Width as 10.16 CM
  7. Click OK

You may want to set your margins to a suitable size as well... This will vary depending on the printer you use, but try 1 CM for Top, Bottom, Left and Right.

To save paper when you print, got to File, Print and then change the Zoom - "Pages Per Sheet" to read as 2.

You can save this as a template once you are happy with the layout etc by going to File, Save As, change Save As Type to "Document Template (*.dot)
