Mac OS X 'Leopard'-related Discussion

Load up Doom 3 in XP and then in Vista and use a application to monitor CPU outputs, nuf said. XP has been modified to use Dual Core but it dosnt do it to the full potential. The Windows Server 2003 core (vista) has always had dualcore from the get go. Hence most people have better framerates in games after moving to Vista (providing they're not using Cheep DDR RAM)

Doom3 isn't even a multithreaded application. What a weak argument.

Man 10.5 is so damned awesome and so much faster and responsive on my 2.4 MBP than Tiger ever was. I love all the new features cept the new dock will have to grow on me a bit. If you haven't ordered this damned OS get it now before the gremlins slap you.

Dirty lies!

im gonna have to wait for mid november... :( awwwww...

Looks like smcfancontrol 1.1 does not work in leopard.

My fan speeds read something like -1111111 and the temperatures do not show up. Is there another program out there where I can monitor this stuff?

There is a version 2.1.2 of smcfancontrol (I think thats the version number). And it definately works with Leopard (I have it on my MBP SR).

Whats the point of Apple putting the Upgrade choice in the installer if everyone says just to do a Clean install?

What is so bad about doing an upgrade. On all the documents about doing an upgrade Apple say they keep the user stuff and the Operating System separate to make upgrading the OS easy without performance or other issues.

Where did this "Upgrades are bad" stigma come from, does anyone know?

Does Leopard make our "books" run an hotter than Tiger 10.4.10?

Most are saying it runs cooler now. Probably because before a lot of apps were single threaded and took a while for one core to do but now that both cores can do it in much less time it probably makes a lot less heat that way.
