Mac OS X 'Leopard'-related Discussion

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question. I've got a Boot Camp partition set up, where I moved all my documents, as I want to perform a clean install on my primary OS X partition. If I choose the Erase and Install method, will my Boot Camp partition stay intact?

Yeah. Windows partitions stay intact. Its fine.

I'm a bit disappointed that Safari's progress bar doesn't change to Graphite. It still has to be hue-shifted and junk then replaced manually. Blue is awful in Leopard... :x Graphite is sexy though.

Spotlight is so insanely fast. I don't think I'll even need Quicksilver....

Anyone had problems accessing http://www.hotmail.com in Safari? Works fine in Firefox but its just constantly reloading in Safari.

It loads fine for me. (Y)

That's why I don't even bother reading Neowin's front page. It's a Microsoft fanboy's paradise.

QFT ;)

One bug I've found is when you return to your desktop from Front Row, the mouse cursor has disappeared. Anyone else got this problem?

I'm getting too. I can move around and see the dock magnify and stuff, but I can't see the actual pointer. :(

Yes I have problems loading hotmail in Safari... it tells me to download a more recent browser : Internet Explorer 6.0

Microsoft will never cease to impress me!

So to summarize... I cannot have my hotmail account in Mail anymore, and I cannot load it in Safari! I really need to sort this out someway...

httpmail is a biggie for me....

I also just bought an external disk to use with time machine + extra space (500 gigs vs. de 60 i have now). I plan to get an extra gig of ram for my macbook next weekend, to give time to my new rive to come home and also in case there a any serious updates to leopard.

as of next weekend, i will be joining you guys :)

Anyone have any idea how to set up a network with Windows computers using Bonjour? I have Bonjour for Windows installed on them, but it just isn't working. My 2 Leopard machines work flawlessly, see each other, and my first Leopard install saw the Tiger install straight away, but the 2 Vista machines I want to work just won't go. Once they're set up, I presume that it's easy to set up a printer, like Apple says it is.

Quick. Everyone try the Photo Mosaic Screensaver.

Choose a photo album from the Desktop & Screen Saver control panel, then click on the 3rd "Display Style" (Mosaic). Under Options set the screensaver to Fast and then click test. Awesome. :)

Retro and Security screensavers are still present too in Developer Tools.

Once installed copy two files

Retro.qtz and Security.qtz

from:

/Developer/Examples/Quartz Composer/Compositions/Screen Savers/

To:

/Library/Screen Savers/

Enjoy!

I just finished reinstalling Leopard. I did an upgrade the first time and had some residual bugs that I wanted to squash so I went with an erase & install the second time since I have a system backup. I was surprised how well the setup assistant worked. My iTunes and iPhoto settings, ratings, etc all exactly as the were. I am really quite impressed with Apple. And now, I have not seen a bug rear it's head. Very happy with Leopard right now.

Oh man. After I watched it for a few minutes, I went back to my desktop, and now it looks like its moving.

Its a very cool effect though must say.

Does anyone have a list of the current version of all the application in Leopard? Stupid as I am, when I tried to install iLife from my iMac install discs, I didn't select custom to just install iLife. Instead I installed all the optional applications of Tiger.

I did a system update but Im still not sure if that'll update everything to Leopard version.

    • Zed 1.7.2 has landed with updated OpenCode models, bug fixes and other improvements by David Uzondu Zed 1.7.2 recently landed on the stable release channel, bringing a host of AI-related features including automatic context compaction and settings-based skill management, along with other things like better Markdown preview rendering and custom git commands in the graph view. Starting with the AI stuff, the developers introduced "/compact", a command that basically summarizes your conversation history on demand. This tool prevents your active chat window from hitting token limits by compressing older parts of the dialogue into a brief overview. In addition to that, the team relocated skill management to the settings UI, improving how the application communicates errors regarding those skills, and updated the OpenCode model roster to support DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, Qwen 3.7 Plus, and Nemotron 3 Ultra Free. External agent users can also monitor context window cost metrics and delete individual sessions directly from their history. Right-clicking ref labels in the git graph now opens a context menu that runs different actions against selected targets, kind of how VS Code does it. Here are some of the bug fixes this new release brings: The active agent fails to auto-select when creating a new git worktree. A scrollbar unexpectedly appears on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat. Collapse indicators for project headers appear when performing sidebar searches. Bracketed ellipsis title prefixes fail to show the ellipsis icon properly. Project icons render incorrectly in the recent projects picker. Diff hunk controls appear inside non-editable commit view multibuffers. The software update button hangs indefinitely on the downloading stage. Restoring an agent terminal in a remote project triggers a sudden crash. Splitting a pane that contains an active commit view causes a crash. Linux Wayland freezes when trying to read the clipboard from laggy external apps. Zed is a "newish" code editor trying to break the massive stronghold VS Code has on the developer community. Funny enough, the editor was created by former GitHub employees who worked on the Atom text editor (which Microsoft killed in 2022, several years after it bought GitHub). The project officially hit version 1.0 back in April, introducing platform parity for Windows and Linux alongside deep support for DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Pro 12 (inch), within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
