Mac OS X 'Leopard'-related Discussion

Sort of. Can only find a .png of the background though. Hoping to find which files make up the moving background.

While browsing around, I did find a different style of folder though. ;)

how can i use ichat to test screen share without a .mac, can i use say a google account or msn?

Use an AIM account. Google over Jabber might work, but AIM is your best bet for any feature iChat has to offer.

Checking that out gave me my first ever Kernel Panic. 3 years without one was a pretty good run. Surprised they haven't changed that

I just tried to reproduce your bug, no dice. What exactly did you do, and do you have logs?

Sorry for being nosy :p

just found this neat trick on another site, you can edit the dock colour, pattern etc:-

*SO* easy to do!.

1 - GOTO /System/Library/Coreservices

2 - Then find Dock.app - right click and "Show package contents"

3 - Once inside, goto /Contents/Resources and *COPY* the following files to another safe folder:

scurve-l.png

scurve-m.png

scurve-xl.png

scurve-sm.png

Now, open them one by one in PHOTOSHOP etc, and create a new layer (make sure the layer is 50-60% or less opacity. Colour the layer, pattern it whatever. Once you have finished, SAVE the files with EXACTLY the same names as above (in the COPY location) and then goto:

/System/Library/Coreservices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources

DELETE the files with the names:

scurve-l.png

scurve-m.png

scurve-xl.png

scurve-sm.png

(You need root password)

and then copy YOUR MODIFIED VERSIONS to this location.

Finally, open terminal and do:

killall Dock

(case sensitive - Dock has a capital "D")

Can always just enable screen sharing, then give the user u want to share the screen with a link

vlc://127.0.0.1 and it'll connect.

edit: ^^ wow, didn't know the quicktime shadow did that, still prefer the 2d dock tho, can edit those images aswell but can't figure out how to lighten up the background.

Haha, that's awesome! I'm gonna set up a black dock now :D

EDIT: It won't replace the files inside dock.app for some reason...

I'm going to try turning off glass temporarily, and see if that helps.

EDIT 2: Ahh, read the instructions again :p . Delete the files.

EDIT 3: I think the file frontline.png inside the dock.app is the part at the very bottom edge of the screen. I'll test it out ;)

EDIT 4: Yup, I was right. I'm going to attach my black dock here.
