Ashampoo Burning Studio 6.40

I was looking forward to try something else and eventually replace Nero... But this application lacks of "advanced" settings.

Not like I'm some really advanced user but I simply expect to see them.

So what's the difference between these two features:

Create a New Disc and Just Copy Movie Files to a Disc

They both seem to do the same thing.

No, ABS doesn't transcode. It can only burn premastered Video-DVDs. BTW: I can't even rip audio-cds to mp3...

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok whats a good transcoder for wmv to dvd format?

Well, TEMPGenc Plus is pretty nifty, but also a little pricey and complicated if you're poor and still newish to this stuff. Have a look here:

I've had a lot of satisfaction with Super - it's free, and worth every... :| well, it's a great program, IMO, and incredibly simple, which is a good thing, if you (like me) happen to be a bit simple, too. Heh. You can get it here:

The only real gripes I've heard about it are that it's a little TOO simple, in some ways, on the point of being almost inscrutable. What it comes down to is, you'll get on your knees and worship it or you won't. Those who do usually find that it'll convert about anything you throw at it, including some framerate conversion. :woot:

VideoHelp.com ( http://www.videohelp.com/ ) is a pretty handy resource, for those of us who weren't born clutching a keyboard and mouse, by the way. Doom9 ( http://www.doom9.org ) is also a cool resource, though the forums can get a bit shirty with the lesser mortals  - they do, however, have a nice selection of freeware available for the downloading, and you might find Gordian Knot a very helpful suite of tools, if you're interested in backing up your DVDs to .avi files, though framerate conversion can be tricky. Still, with all due respect to this new forum I've landed in, both sites are very handy and informative!

Hope that helps! ;)
