The fact that there are 2 different codes that lead to the same directory got discarded by most people because the only way we got escapegravity was when lokivanishes posted a grid and removed in about 5 minutes. A person managed to solve the grid or remembered it and then we got escapegravity. The second code was probably made because lokivanishes removed the first grid. But you do make a valid point that is seems very strange that 2 codes could lead to one directory. And.... seeing as most people look to be stumped i'm gonna see if I can get something out of the puzzle.

No, it isn't strange. The sudoku puzzle from wh0isl0ki was changed as well, offering two different solutions to get to the same directory.

Maybe it has something to do with the other clue. CIRCUMAMBULATION , to go around something. Going to different directions could lead to a circle.

Can someone check if its my system or something that could be linked in some way.

I have Vista Ultimate installed - mainly in an attempt to see if it did anything different on this game site.

Alas I decided to try searching for 'vanishingpoint' in windows help from the start menu, imediatly it comes up with a error

saying ;

'Internet Explorer can not download / from Help'

then complains about a connection error.

I can not replicate this with any other word search, only 'vanishingpoint' - vanish for example returns valid results.

Is it possible this is linked to some future Easter Egg linked to this game ???

so im not good with decoding and all of this stuff, but im wondering, is the circumambulation page the last page of the chain of puzzles, or is there more to be discovered? I assume someone will just respond with "nobody knows really", but i figured i would try and get some opinions.

Can someone verify the original times they had on the countdown clock with the ones they have now. I had thought that Phoenix was just a two minute difference than Sydney, Miami, & Austin, but now my computer is showing a two hour difference.

---I think I just figured it out. The two minutes after the hour is now gone and they changed the time to two hours later. It may have been a mistake on their end. Let me know if you guys are seeing the same thing.

ok, so, i was reading the zenith page, and i read vista. Now, when ever i read/hear of "vista" i immediately think of windows vista. More importantly is this:

The vanishing point is the boundary between Something and Everything; between What Is and What Can Be. Fewer than a thousand people have ever been there to see the ultimate vista. The grand prize winner will be one of them.

Familiar? Windows Vista Ultimate. After all, hast people been saying that this has something to do with Microsoft?

So anyway, my grand guess is that somone will be handing out free copies of windows vista at all the places listed at CIRCUMAMBULATION, at the times specified at CIRCUMAMBULATION?

So, The person that the bio is all about, there job is to give stuff away to people. They give free copies of Windows Vista Ultimate away to the smartest people on the planet, and, their smart because they figured out all the puzzles and such, and when the countdown hits zero, the copies will be given out, obviosmartest martest people.

Remember, its just a guess, but, if it is true, we will need to find more locations...... They might be referenced in that video, at least two have been spotted: The Japanese Hotel and that place in Las Vagas.

I have an idea, what about the reflection in that mirror that was in the video, could that be some place, yet another location that free copies of vista will be handed out at? I dunno.......

hmmmm..... i just went to antepenultimate and it has some interesting contents:

So, i suppose i was right - in a way, anyway, im pretty sure we need to get people at these locations, at these dates.

Off the top of my head, i remember some fountain place in Las Vagas, and that hotel place........ maybe? I dont know.

And for the people that are going to it, maybe if they wear shirts with like: "Loki, where are you" "Loki, we are here" or the vanishing point logo thingy with with a link to the neowin site/forums or somthing...........

I wish i could go to the Sydney location, but, i will be at a party, and besides, its a distance away from where i live (300km) and i doubt my parents (im only 14) will drive all the way down there just for some little hunch that could be wrong.......

Depending on what hapepens at the Las Vegas / Bellagio event, I plan to go to the Sydney event... even though it's over 1000km from where I live. I'll simply catch a plane and take a small holiday... what's my boss going to do? I'm part time! :p

Looking back at the old photo of the vanishing box and the contents, contained is what seems to be a 256mb flash drive. Looking for new flash media, i came across a seagate page. After all the speculation of laptops earlier, i wondered if this had anything to do with it. Seagate are developing new large storage Laptop Hybrid drives that have 256mb cache flash drives on them. They are working on this with microsoft and their vista project. Also to note they have a CES show in Las Vegas on January 8th

It was actually Samsung, not Seagate. But Seagate will be releasing models too - either way, I don't think that's related to Vanishing Point.

Yes, this has been the common thinking for quite awhile. MS has worked with 42entertainment for viral marketing using ARG-like methodology (i.e. I Love Bees as a promotional ARG for Halo2).

No one knows exactly where, yet. We can easily suppose that after the first meet in Las Vegas, the other specific locations may be revealed (probably as a puzzle).

Yes, in Las Vegas. The clues were clearly given to be at a certain location on Las Vegas Blvd (aka "The Strip") in front of the fountains of the Bellagio. The hotel picture was the Bellagio from their Japanese marketing page online. The map next to it was the .pdf of their property.

What reflections? That wasn't a mirror (with the stripes and the 0s), that was hotel "art work".

I suspect that we may have another video or some other puzzle to find the exactly locations for the other cities. Remember, we have the first countdown on the home page....what happens when that reaches 0.00.00? I will be at the Bellagio Fountains so I won't see it....but will it default to the next countdown? Or change to a video? Or change to a new puzzle to solve?

There will be more than just software for prizes; but methodology for distribution is still not clear.

So far, this has all been a great puzzle trail to build up excitment and buzz (aka 'viral marketing') for something that will happen at CES. CES is a HUGE Consumer Electronics Show. EVERYONE (software, hardware, consoles, gagets, electronics) will be there. You can tie in every company under the sun with MS at this convention.

Who from Neowin will be at the fountains (and other sites)? We started lists at the wiki countdown page.
