How can you 'skip' parts of a movie automatically?

Question

I want to watch a movie with my younger cousin, but it has some pornographic moments that I dont want her looking at lol

Is there a way to just skip certain parts of a movie? The movie is on my hard drive, in divx AVI format..

I really dont want to cut it with virtualdub or something, I dont have that kind of free space..

Is there another way to have the whole movie, yet skip certain parts?

I would think that a movie that has "pornographic moments" wouldn't be appropriate to be watching with your younger cousin to begin with...whether you skip them or not.

What's the movie anyway?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the same movie with part of it missing take up less space than the original?

The first 5 replies were of absolutely no help at all;

I think your best bet would be to use a simple program like VirtualDub or even more advanced Adobe Premiere and simply cut out the scenes then export the movie again, you can compress the movie so it wouldn't take up quite as much space as the original.

*Edit* VirtualDub is free for non-commercial use i remember.

You could always use AVISynth, load the video, then use multiple Trim function to distinguish parts of the movie that you want to keep. Then another command to splice them together. Then, just open that avs file into Media player classic.

It's actually not that difficult if you have used AVISynth before, but it's time consuming if you haven't. You should just fast forward through the bad scenes that you make a note of beforehand.

zoomplayer?

yes

ZoomPlayer has Scene Cut Editor which allows you to dynamically modify (without actually changing the source file) the way content is played. To do this, you need to have a media loaded (Currently playing or paused Media File/DVD/Etc...).

You can manipulate it in the following ways:

  • Cut:Dynamically remove segments of the time line so that these segments will cut be when encountered.
  • Jump: Create Jump points which can jump anywhere within the time line, including backwards, this way re-editing the chronological playback order in any way you desire.
  • Audio Mute: Mute the Audio for a specific duration.
  • Hide Subtitle: DVD Only, Hide the DVD Subtitle for a specific duration.
  • End: End Playback (move to next track), mostly useful for DVD Playback as it allows you to play multiple DVDs in sequence, bypassing the menuing system which prevents DVDs from ending on their own
