Veedems Veteran Posted January 9, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2007 The beta is probably stable enough for the average non-essential blog, but plugin support may be lacking. oubipaws
I use very few plugins (adsense and top commenters), outside of that, I pull about 10,000 hits a month (not heavy traffic). You think the beta would be able to handle it? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/527293-wordpress-206/page/2/#findComment-588206695 Share on other sites
Rappy Veteran Posted January 9, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2007 I went ahead with 2.1 Beta 1. Works pretty well, I just had a few issues with template tags I didn't use correctly, and I had to fix a plugin that I had modified. I like the new login screen ... I wish they'd make a new Site Admin. :p I use a plugin that makes the admin look snazzy...better then that plain look :shifty: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/527293-wordpress-206/page/2/#findComment-588206704 Share on other sites

Aperture
And this is far from being an operating system. And this is far from being 4 years in a beta. The premises still stands. What with this being a non-funded project, and the amount of peoples work and time being much less compared to, as I say - An operating system. A year in beta doesn't sound too shoddy. Anyway, that's besides the point - it's been proved otherwise. zeroday
If you wanna try out the beta, but don't wanna upload it to your site, here is a good guide on how to install wordpress locally (under XP). Very useful stuff. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/527293-wordpress-206/page/2/#findComment-588209242 Share on other sites

Echilon
Manual WordPress upgrades are easy - compare your current blog installation with stock 2.0.5 (or whatever version you have), and then apply differences to fresh copy of 2.0.6 (I use WinMerge for this). Great program, I updated my blog with it. The new version seems pretty much the same as the old one though, it seemed to be mostly minor changes in some of the functions.
