I went ahead with 2.1 Beta 1. Works pretty well, I just had a few issues with template tags I didn't use correctly, and I had to fix a plugin that I had modified. I like the new login screen ... I wish they'd make a new Site Admin. :p

I use a plugin that makes the admin look snazzy...better then that plain look :shifty:

And this is far from being an operating system.

And this is far from being 4 years in a beta. The premises still stands. What with this being a non-funded project, and the amount of peoples work and time being much less compared to, as I say - An operating system. A year in beta doesn't sound too shoddy.

Anyway, that's besides the point - it's been proved otherwise.

Manual WordPress upgrades are easy - compare your current blog installation with stock 2.0.5 (or whatever version you have), and then apply differences to fresh copy of 2.0.6 (I use WinMerge for this).

Great program, I updated my blog with it. The new version seems pretty much the same as the old one though, it seemed to be mostly minor changes in some of the functions.
