nd i guess the next logical step is for ppl to actually add sfv files or other kinds of hashes to verify their downloads "are the real thing" instead of the bogus stuff from riaa or mpaa.. in the end, i think the result of all the "hunting" of the riaa/mpaa etc, is only gonna result in a stronger/better organised pirate system..

All the "major" torrent sites already requires sfv's for validating the files.

Caught in the act. Thing is, I have yet to see MPAA or RIAA punished by the law, for any of their misteps.

Its hard to get punished when you can just throw money at the legislators and the courts and they step back.

I have a question. If you are caught downloading these, you're aren't committing a crime are you? Since the file is fake, you aren't actually downloading the movie. Therefore, not breaking the law. It could be a 1GB text file.

Nice try but that would not fly in court reason being that you voluntarily searched for that specific movie and you proceeded with downloading it knowing it was that movie you were looking for.

This is quiet old IMO. They had some of these torrents for a while..Hell, I downloaded BF2 off ThePirateBay, and they caught me, but didn't do anything from there. I just recieved a warning from my ISP.

that would of been the isp that caught you, not the MPAA/RIAA

Hmmm well looks like it would be a good idea to not get anything from public torrent sites.

And if the Mpaa/Riaa/whatever other ones they have made up now, have uploaded those files onto a site with the intention of people downloading that file because it is named "Happy Feet DVD Rip" isn't that like a cop asking you if you would like to buy drugs from them AKA entrapment? even if the user went to download that file and it turned out to be a fake he could not get prosecuted because well he didn't get that movie in the end he just got a lot of scrambled stuff. So i could go and make a 700mb txt file and rename is as an .avi then upload it to some site and if people download it and then the MPAA jumps onto it and they caught me. could they in turn prosecute me for uploading a file that is called a movie name but in the end it is not?. If they can, then what they are doing is illegal and they are breaking teh law

oh and when i mean a fake file i dont mean an avi that ends halfway thru i mean like someone has gotten a 750mb txt file and just renamed it Happy Feet DVD Rip.avi

No it is not entrapment as mentioned before. 1) they are not a legal/policing body 2) you have to actively search for the torrent. They are not sending you an email/IM saying hey do you want x. Since you are actively looking to download x, what matters is intent. It doesn't matter if the file is fake or not. Also you can do the same thing, but most likely you'd be charged with some obscure and minor misdemeanor. As what is happening could be viewed as a person selling oregano as marijuana; you can be charged with trafficking even though you know its fake.

No, it was the MPAA/RIAA. They emailed the ISP to take action against the user. The ISP generally warns the user and if you're caught multiple times than they can terminate their service to you. The MPAA/RIAA only take action against users who share a large amount of files, the little fish are left to the ISP themselves.

Though even TV networks are monitoring torrents. I got an e-mail from my university for downloading an episode of Law & Order. Nothing happened after that but suffice to say, I took the easy way out and just bought a TV Tuner. Pretty simple if you ask me.

Of course, it's really the people that live in other countries that are getting shafted. Having to wait an excess of months for an episode/song/movie when it's available elsewhere and then asking people not to download it is lunacy. Sure, a few weeks is understandable, but when they start exploiting economic situations, it's almost as if they are asking for it.

Oh well, no more pirate downloading for me. I feel somewhat happier (only a little).

      Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice?
