I also found this to be a funny coincidence..

If you notice that the last puzzle is titled "people disappear"... I did a search with Ask.com for those two words.. and this came up towards the top:

http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/vanish.htm

lol... Coincidence that the name of the article is the same as the game???

The only thing that i think people disappear means is that the next puzzle box will be about history

OK, talking about overanalyzing (heck we need something to do for a week !! hehe) here are the transcripts for

the three videos we have so far (I didn't include the one from the event in Vegas, not sure if there are any more clues in there).

I watched/listened the videos many times in slow speed, I may have some errors and I still have some blanks

I marked with **** (feel free to fill in the blanks and correct if something is wrong).

Don't know how many clues we may find, but I'm strongly convinced that there are many...

some food for thought in my next post.

Title: Hear the Challenge - Game home page

Set: Hotel Room

Transcript:

Absolutely not, that wasn?t our deal, our deal was I?ll give away extraordinary prices to exceptional people, and you will be happy.

Yeah I know it?s expensive, but these people are way ahead of the curve.

If you want to interest them, your prizes better be worth their while?

No, I can?t come to the office to explain, I can?t, I?ve gotta catch a plane the eighth is coming fast.

Right, you?ll be glad you wrote the check, I promise you, it will be timeless.

Yeah, I know, some of the puzzles are ridiculously hard, believe me the people you are looking for, can handle it, the real trick is, can they solve them in time?

If they need help they can always search for the vanishing point tag.

Sigh. The vanishing point? ?It?s where things disappear, remember?

No. no, no, come on, I?m not just doing it for the trip to Vegas, we are gonna make someone famous around the world, although I?d said for a girl with a photographic memory Vegas is a very profitable city.

Look, you hired me to pull up this stunt that nobody else could possibly do, the stage is set, the time is right and I haven?t forgotten a thing.

I have to get off the phone now.

Yes I do, time for me to vanish.

It?s too late to back out now, we?ve started, and there is no turning back.

Title: Video 1 - End of puzzle box

Set: Some sort of backstage A/V production facility

Transcript:

You are my hourglass, the fastest you work the faster the sun runs out on me.

That?s right, at the end of this challenge I will cease to exist, every puzzle you solve takes me a little closer to my own vanishing point.

I don?t like talking about myself I don?t like being noticed, but I wanted to tell you a little bit of my history, after all you?ve earned it, right?

My job is to giveaway spectacular prices to incredible people in the most challenging way possible.

Am I lucky or what?

How I?ve get this gig? I graduated with a quadruple major, physics, stage art, history and folklore, all and all in two years? but my grades were not that outstanding, I got a lot of call from recruiters but only one noticed that my GPA was exactly 3.1416.

That?s harder to arrange than you may think.

Ok, enough confession for now, if you are smart as I think you are, we?ll talk again.

Title: Video 2 - End of puzzle box 2

Set: Some sort of backstage A/V production facility, same as Video1

Transcript:

Congratulations. That?s 24 puzzles down, only 24 before I disappear.

I guess your kind of a magician too, you?ve sawed a lady in half ?

All right so where was I, oh right, so I?m in this room with the one recruiter, usually these guys ask you about your research, or your grades, but this guy looks me in the eye and says tell me about a time you made something disappear ?.

I told him about disappearing my chemistry professor?s office, I took the door down, I **** hinges, laid up a little bit of drywall, some whitewash and you can?t forget about the baseboards, and I hanged on of those big huge billboards across the walls advertising swim meets, or book swaps, so the next morning he shows up for office hours, no office..

He trans around, I?m standing at the end of the hallway trying to keep myself from laughing, he starts on the corridor reading the name plates on every door.

Took him about two weeks to think about prying into the window.

So the recruiter says, wow, but can you ***** if hire you ?

And I said, hey give me the job and I?ll be giving you your watch back.

Yea, that might work. If you know how to edit cookies.

I don't think it has to do with the cookies. If you are not logged in and go to collectionplate it shows a 0. It takes you signing in which would give collectionplate a point of reference. The only thing I can think of is trying to access the other sites within vanishingpoint.com. The puzzles are www.vanishingpointgame.com/shell_time then magic. Does anyone think that you could access the boxes before the timer hits zero, or on_the_run and collectionplate, access the links before the video comes? I know its a bit of a crapshoot, but we do have 5 days of nothing to do. Just a thought.

I don't if you guys have already seen this or not. I'm not going to read through 53+ pages to find out. If you follow this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/community/default.mspx near the bottom-left portion of the page is an image is related to the game.

It's caption is "Most of you won't figure this out." and "vanishingpointgame.com"

OK, following up from my previous post with the transcripts. I don't know how much effort/work these guys put to

create the history script the scenes, choose the words, etc.

We know that most probably "Loki" is a fictional character for the game played by a professional actress, and

that "her" full name is Lorelei or Loreley Kitsune that is linked with Japanese folklore, a red fox, trickster and

the "murmuring rock", she presents herself as a very smart person, with abilities as such that makes her

the only person "to pull up this stunt that nobody else could possibly do".

It's obvious that the story line in the videos is fully scripted, like the clue about her quadruple majors that

coincidentially are the four themes of the game, or her personal history, and particularly from the last video (Video 2)

the whole thing about the office prank (that we already know may have been inspired in the old MIT prank)

and the interview with the recruiter.

Now, watching the videos over and over I noticed that in the first (Video 0) and second (Video 1) videos when

she says "right" she pulls her glasses down. Call me crazy but to me it looks that the gesture is actually

part of the script in the way she particulary does it on Video 1. What it means ? no clue yet.

But ... some dude in the unfiction forum found the attached picture at http://vanishingpointgame.com/images/loki.jpg

(the picture is still in the site as I write this, not sure if they will remove it when they notice we found it).

Coincidence ?

post-195618-1168834398.jpg

Now the whole dialog about the proffesor's office prank, there are couple of things that for me feel like clues,

such us "doors", "name plates", "swim meets", "book swaps", "office hours", "whitewash",

"billboard", etc, and she makes a strange pause and emphasys when she says "and you can't forget the baseboards".

Also, I mentioned this before, on the very first video (Video 0) she puts four watches in a box, but keeps one

on her hand, that is shown again on Video 1, and could be related to the dialog on Video 2 when she says

to the recruiter "And I said, hey give me the job and I?ll be giving you your watch back".

Who is the recruiter anyway and why the hole story is relevant for the game ? may be the one who

interviewed her to do this stunt ?

What do you think ?

I better take a break before I start seeing little green people in my window ...

Cheers

PS I'll post some technical details in another message later ...

Hey confusio,

Its NOT Swimmies... Its Swim Meets.

Well had a day away from this to clear my mind a bit and think afresh about the meta game, caught up with some pages and well does anyone ever sleep. (I Know I don't)

Well the counters are definatly not cookie related as I have reinstall PC today (MS updates doh!)

I have my 18 secure white boxes still -good - did not realy want all that again.

Glad they re-enabled tham all last night. Good Stuff

To the Video and the covered up wall - confused - don't think the MIS one is the correct one as its the Presidents office and she is very clear in the video about the chemistry professor - come to think of it since when did she study chemistry anyway - could be a bluff. Not sure but think we need a bit more investigation, also doubt we are meant to call MIT but is there an MS/AMD link here someplace??

White box coat of arms - college badge maybe ? I feel I have seen it before someplace, buged me all day.

Video definatly gives us something to do this week and further email/phone work for sure, they saw haw we devoured it last week so sure there is more to come.

Lets have some fun !

Hey,

I have found an image hidden on the collection plate site. If you go to the site and select all, it will highlight the image. I pasted it into word and it is a small pic of what looks like the letter "J". You can bring it up in script editor and view alot more script, not sure if this is anything?

Yeah it's fun, we are creating a lot of buzz that is what they wanted, and it's an interesting way of excercising our collective mind.

I don't believe they expected to have the puzzles solved in just few hours, again msft and Mr. Bill understimated the power of

a chaotic interconnected group of smart and enthusiastic people, not just computers, routers and software.

I hope that they also learn from this experience and for the next launch we are talking about something like "Open Vista".

Sooner or later they will realize that they can make much more money if they trust the "collective mind" and

move away from spending a lot of money and too much time in developing crapy software.

I'd love to see them innovate instead of producing massive code upgrades with just a new product name.

Just my humble opinion

Cheers

Can you post it? I can't get it to select all.

This is my first post on the forums but I have been here from the start so I'd just like to say hi to everyone.....anyway,

In response to this:

Hey,

-

I think your "J" is simply an icon for javascript, as the page contains jave

Also I found a site which I am pretty sure is not in-game but you never know, http://www.vanishingpointgame.info/

I looked up the whois info for the site and don't see a problem posting it as it is public info:

Interesting to note the site was registered with GO Daddy and also Steve Guntrip is a member of the band that the site links to

http://www.myspace.com/themanagersband

http://www.themanagers.co.nz/

The guys email address and phone number is available on whois, anyone want to ring him? what do people think?

Also I noticed the Windows Launch countdown on this page http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/community/default.mspx

and it looks like it will co-incide with the end of vanishing point (or the opening of the last box anyway)

Also in the last video when Loki mentions it took 2 weeks for the Professor to climb in the window, this could be lated to the new WINDOWS becoming accessible in two weeks (Retail anyway)

Also the site http://hacks.mit.edu/Hacks/by_year/1990/vest_bboard/

which has the article about the Prank at MIT also contains the following info just below the title

Location: 3-208

Date: October 15, 1990

Maybe Loki mentioned the prank to get us to see this info?

OT but...

Frustration with this gravity lock puzzle. This one I think is broken.

The small red square is the white box, the larger red square is the solution entry box and button. I am not able to see the small white box unless I push the reset button. Once pushed the white box appears but it is inactive the box is not visable unless I push the reset button. Wonder if this is how everyone sees it?

Strange.

Hope someone will have an idea as to how to get this to work. I've tried everything I could think of. I am using IE 7 but tried it with FF and got the same result.

BTW if I can get this to work I'll have 18 of 36.

post-193293-1168843920.jpg

Hey I'm new around here, but I thought I would just add a little to the mix.

I did a search on quadruple majors. I found a short link on a man named Jay Dweck who was a quadruple major at MIT in 1977. He finished up in 2 years with the following degrees : SB in Chemical Engineering, SB in Mathematics, CHE in Chemical Engineering, and SM in Chemical Engineering.

http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/learni...ok_at_jay.shtml

Loki claims she finished in two years in a quad major, and then tells a story the is similar to one at MIT, only she was pulling the prank on her chemistry prof. Mr Dweck matches the quad major at the same university, only he majored in Chemistry. He later went on to become the CTO at Goldman Sachs.

This may not mean anything, but I thought I would throw it out there.

I have had the same problem a few times.... I figured out something that might help...

Go to the puzzle "HEADLINER" in the 2nd box and see if the WHITE BOX is there also... if it is.. click it.. the one in the brick.. lower left..

If you have 17 out of 18 and the posters one keeps showing up.. this may fix it...

My puzzle piece count shows 18 out of 36 now like it should.. even though the POSTERS box is still showing up..

You may also want to go back and see if any of the other boxes have reappeared.. I did that and it worked..

thanks, it did work, I found a reappeared box in seven card monte and counter shows 18 after I click on that one. However, other box on the posters still reappears.

someone talked about cookies being modified for the counter. i dont think counter has anything to do with the counter; otherwise did anyone try to modify the cookies to get 38 of 38 count and that should lead to the final question?

    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.

    • Alien Isolation 2 will bring a new protagonist and setting, watch the reveal trailer here by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Only a few weeks ago, Sega and Creative Assembly dropped a teaser for a new Alien Isolation. Today at Summer Game Fest, Alien: Isolation 2 was officially announced with a new trailer while also confirming a whole lot of information about the setting of this survival horror project. Check out the reveal trailer above. Leaving behind the Sevastopol space station, the sequel will take players to a remote colony world. With a Xenomorph (or more) on the loose, players will be navigating both the surface of the weather-ravaged planet as well as "the claustrophobic confines of the Weyland-Yutani outpost of Kurosaki Station." Interestingly, Creative Assembly is leaving behind Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Alien's Ellen Ripley, as the protagonist too. While it hasn't confirmed a name yet, players will be taking the role of a new character for this new adventure. The setting is also being described as a new hunting ground for the Alien. This will have players improvising and developing new tools to aid in their survival and escape, all to avoid "cinema’s deadliest killer." "It has been over a decade since we created the original Alien: Isolation and I am so excited to show everyone the first glimpse of the sequel," says Al Hope, Creative Director at Creative Assembly. "Our dedicated Survival team at Creative Assembly has been working hard to create a new, evolved Isolation experience continuing the legacy of the Alien franchise, making the eponymous killer smarter, the environment harsher and the chance of survival slimmer." Promising the same deadly tension from the original from over a decade ago, Alien: Isolation 2 is in development for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced yet.
