They remain oblivious to the sport.I once remember an american comedian, of african origin that once said "meah black ppl dont play soccer" you dont need to go as far as africa. most of french national team players are from africa, or at least black frenchies. anyway beckham is purely for marketing reasons. if it will popularise the sport than fine! but he is not the best player now, and absolutely uncomparable to legends like pele. Stadiums would get filled with fans who were there just to watch Pele..I'm talking 70-80 thousand people.
