AutoPatcher XP January 2007

Recommended Posts

anyone having problems with autopatcher loading the windows installer on launch? everytime i try and run autopatcher it starts windows installer and wants me to point to the autocad msi installer for some reason, i tried that but it just keeps cycling through installing...

Open up Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Even Viewer. Click on Application in the left side and look at the log to see why AutoCad installer, or any other installer, is popping up and complaining.

D'ont worry. Things are going on. Those who are using uTorrent or any other client that runs DHT are downloading and spreading your great job and favour.

cumps,

A Brastuga ( or a Portuzuca if you so wish)

Well, now it's supermouse work! ;)

I've just finished downloading :D, and will seed it throughout the day.

Also, I'd like to thank Gandolas for losing part of his Sunday trying to help us all - that is very appreciated!

No problem.

And please, remember to keep sharing the file.

I'm suprised I didn't see this posted yet.

Didn't the november (full/lite) and december (update) releases have a bug in it that was then patched, and then the January release would also have patched?

If so, what order do I do them in? I need to install November lite, but what's the best way to make sure I have that patch in there?

I'm talking english version here.

Thanks!

-Mike

@marrone, the was a patch to the dec06 update english release, but you dont need to worry about that anymore, its included in the jan07 english update release.

order of installation for you: nov06 lite, dec06 update, jan07 update. note that when installing the update releases selected the 'lite' update option if available (which it is for those two).

I got 3 issues after applying AP on clean system (AP NOV full + dec&jan updates)

1.IE will not install, no matter what I do, including trying to install it singe after AP has finished

2.WMP11 is installed, but wants to go online to be validated. Otherwise it won't start. (Someone on forum said no online validation is required as long as u have valid key) and i dont want to crack validation every time i do AP.

3.System seems slower and slugish after installing AP.

*All testing have been done on real comp, not a V-sys.

(I also posted this in bug report section)

well, yesterday i've got an similar issue like Angelico_Payne had. ie7 was not installing and wmp11 was failing on validation of a genuine windows xp. after thinking a little, looking for a solution for that (because it wasn't installing even manually), i've realized that it is an issue regarding windows genuine advantage. the instalation folder was corrupted or something like that. looking at ms website, i've realize that this issue can be solved just by deleting this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Aplication Data\Windows Genuine Advantage

or, for a pt-br xp:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Dados de aplicativos\Windows Genuine Advantage

after that, you just need install WGA and try validate wmp11. if you have a genuine windows xp, it will works like a charm and you don't need go online to validate (wga is included with AP package. you just need install that)

Thanks for the awesome work, Gandolas. :woot:

Just a tiny question, though. To update my PT XP OS I really should only use the update from January '07 on top of the latest full version (which was from November or October '06), right? ;)

When u say issue can be solved... u mean after the install or something else.

I havent installed the WGA module becaouse its in habit of contacting microsoft as it wishes later on.

U tell I should delete C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Aplication Data\Windows Genuine Advantage , but before AP i dont have that folder, so do I have to restart AP with just IE installation or ....something else? Sorry but I am bit confused.

I want to install AP , and restart. Any additional interventions defy the meaning and purpose of AP project.

Angelico_Payne, everybody have that folder (or, at least, those that have wga installed). it is just hidden by default. you can change it opening windows explorer, tools, folder options, (2nd option right of general. sorry. pt-br windows and i don't know how "modo de exibi??o" is called in english). search for "hide protected files from SO" and uncheck it. also search for "folders and hidden files" and check "show files and hidden files". now you can see that folder, if you have it

about wga, i too don't like it. the best description that i have to it is "spyware", but some updates may not install if you don't have this...

> I want to install AP , and restart. Any additional interventions defy the meaning and purpose of AP project.

but this isn't a issue from AP. it's from windows himself and it may have several causes. this one that i've pointed to you is just one fix, from many possible...

edit:

note: this will not fix issues from non-genuine windows. IE7, WMP11 and other updates that need wga will not call a "non-genuine" windows of "genuine" just because that folder is removed. it will just fix an issue regarding corrupted files on that folder, just that

Aha so I have to install the WGA when installing AP no matter what, or IE7 and WM11 won't work at all.

Reagarding the folder in mention. When I install a new system, it is pure Windows XP SP2 proffesional. So i dont have that folder. When I install AP with WGA i should get one, right?

So at what point am I supposed to delete the folder. After AP has finished and restard, but before starting IE? Cause maybe IE7 dont want to install because I havent installed WGA. It starts validate screen and then dissappeares.

** Modo de exibi??o, I looked up on internet, it means the way something is shown so I get it.

I will have to wage out installing WGA vs. not installing WM11 and IE7. I will have to consult with clients.

Anyway, because IE7 is now in AP pack, IE6 patches will no longer be posted within AP?

> or IE7 and WM11 won't work at all

it may install, yes. but:

- serial must not be blacklisted;

- it must be validated at first run.

> So at what point am I supposed to delete the folder

also i said, there's many issues that can do this kind of behavior. the most common of them is an well know issue regarding this folder, that may be corrupted even at a "clean" windows (you may have some bad block or this sort of issues, you know). anyway, this "fix" doesn't damage. you just may need install wga again in order to validade, just that. some know issues that can made wmp11 don't run or IE7 don't install can be checked online. you can run wmp11, select "validate". them, you must follow the link that point why you can't validate wmp11. there's many issues that can do that, you know. an "this serial is blacklisted", "you have an activation patch", etc. there's many issues regarding that and you just may see one possible from many if you go online. by just guess, may be a pain...

> ** Modo de exibi??o, I looked up on internet, it means the way something is shown so I get it

it's right. it's something like that. but in short version. and i don't know a short version to that

about IE6 patches, also blaze write sometime ago, AP may have this updates for some time (and, in fact, AP has. there's at least 2 that i can remmember. one cumulative update and something else. but wmp10 is no longer included)

Hi Supermouse,

I'm downloading Jan2007 pt-BR AP from eMule right now (fast and stable download indeed). However I didn't find the correct MD5 values for the file on this site (didn't I search enough ?)

Would you please confirm if these values are right, or tell me if they're posted here somewhere (taken from eMule itself):

Going online for validation is unacceptable.

I can crack the validation, but i dont want to do that, beacuse its waste of time on valid system.

Ok so i install AP with WGA module enabled.

All should at least install (thats my first goal)

Then after restart they should work (secong goal)

Is this right?

sdrubble, at LittlBUGer mirror, there's that md5 file. the right one is this: b3c677007984f66d40753a89934e416b, that matches with the one that i have. so, the right e2k for that should be this one:

ed2k://|file|AutoPatcher_XP_Jan2007_PortugueseBrazil_Full.exe|363236743|A6F902CF0FE9EA912E3990AFC98445A8|/

that i believe that matches with this one that you have ;)

Angelico_Payne, there's no need for go online for validation, if your system is ok. if your windows instalation cd is untouched (that means that nobody rip from it some important things with nlite or something else), if your windows instalation serial is not blacklisted (even a genuine windows can be blacklisted, you now), your windows is activated (that should be done on line or at least by phone), if there's nothing wrong with the memory of your machine, hd, etc, you should be able to install anything that requires validation. but to do that, your system must pass through wmp11 and ie7 validations. you don't need install wga (except if that folder that i've pointed is removed), but this 2 updates still will check your system. if your system don't pass, then the only one way to know why (at least if you are 100% sure that is like should be with your windows) is going online, to check the reason pointed by wmp11. you know, even on a company that have thousands of genuine windows, a guy always can grab an genuine serial and put it on internet. then, your genuine windows probably will gone, beeing blacklisted.

> Ok so i install AP with WGA module enabled.

> All should at least install (thats my first goal)

yes, it may install if your serial is not blacklisted. if is, it will not install. if your serial is really genuine and ok, then it will install. validate is another thing. wmp11, by eg, can install without pass at the validation test (that is done at first run). at the validation process, if some issue is found (like a corrupted folder, etc), it will not pass at the validation test and to know why, just if you go online.

> Then after restart they should work (secong goal)

if:

windows serial is genuine and not blacklisted;

folders of wga are ok;

windows is activated (by phone or online);

user account used to install have admin rights and is ok (i've already found one that had admin rights, but to validate, i've need create another account with admin rights. something was wrong with the original one);

no virus and other malware that may deny something is in your system

then:

wmp11 and ie7 should run fine

but remember: ms is not calling wga of "Windows Genuine Advantage" for nothing. everything that isn't a critical update may not install if windows is not genuine.

Thnx supermouse -

sdrubble, at LittlBUGer mirror, there's that md5 file. the right one is this: b3c677007984f66d40753a89934e416b, that matches with the one that i have. so, the right e2k for that should be this one:

that i believe that matches with this one that you have ;)

but lemme see if I got this straight:

  • hash value on eMule has nothing to do with md5. In fact (I noticed that just now), the hash value string matches the last part of the ed2k:// address;
  • md5 value is not available from eMule, so I can't check it unless I re-generate md5 data from the file I downloaded (duh . . .) and see if it matches the number from LittlBUGer mirror;
  • but since your ed2k:// address matches mine, I'll assume I've got the right file.

Cheers

sdrubble

yes, you can re-generate md5 data from the file that you have. you just need an md5 verifier. here, i'm choosing now nero md5 verifier, that's free, very simple and does his job without worries. if you don't have a md5 with it, you just ignore step 1 and browse to point the file that you wanna and it will take the md5. if you wanna check, you just paste md5 at step1, browse to point the file and, if md5 is ok, md5 at step1 will be green. if not, red. there's a lot of free software that can do the same job. about e2k, yes, if it matches, should be the same file. but is possible fake that. at least, i've read something about sometime ago

Angelico_Payne, with nline alone, nothing. but if you remove multimidia, then you may be unable to install wmp11. then, you need extract content from wmp11 package and manually install in order to enable multimidia again. about ie7, i'm not kite sure about what things that if removed from xp, may prevent ie7 install, i know a few guys that work with nlite since ages ago, but i'm not sure if they know what can happend if some things are riped from xp installation disk that may prevent ie install. i'm just sure about that thing with multimidia. there's another one issue with messenger too and i'm not sure about what do that.

    • Microsoft Edge gets tons of security features, including AI model that can see your screen by Usama Jawad Microsoft Edge may not be the most popular browser out there, but it does receive quite frequent updates that sometimes bring surprising new features and axe others that are not as popular. Now, Microsoft has detailed some of the new security enhancements that it has introduced in Edge for Business, typically used by commercial customers. Microsoft has emphasized that security features are baked into Edge for Business and offer native integration with security and governance tools like Defender and Purview. Browser sessions are governed by default on managed devices but can also be governed through dedicated work profiles on unmanaged devices. An important aspect in this area is controlling the use of shadow AI. We have talked about this before, but it essentially restricts employees from using unsanctioned AI apps through data loss prevention (DLP) policies, with Edge redirecting them to trusted AI services like Microsoft 365 Copilot. This feature, available as a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) license, ensures that confidential data never exits AI boundaries set by your organization in Purview. Additionally, Microsoft also has strong DLP policies for contractors. Contractors leveraging a Entra ID-joined work profile provisioned by their contracting company on a device managed by their actual employer can be restricted from downloading files locally. In such scenarios, the file is saved on the contracting firm's OneDrive rather than being downloaded locally. Another useful Edge security feature disallows copying and pasting from unmanaged locations and apps. Similarly, DLP policies can be configured at a granular level to restrict screenshots or downloading of files from certain locations. In the same vein, IT admins can block the installation of extensions, hosted apps, themes and scripts, and control if users can install extensions from external locations. They can also enable the installation of specific extensions and allow users to request access to certain extensions, so that they can be managed on a case-by-case basis. Finally, Edge for Business now has an on-device AI model that uses computer vision to see what's on your screen and block potentially malicious content immediately. This does not rely on site reputation, as it simply monitors what is being displayed on your screen, which means that it is effective against malicious content that takes over your screen and employs scareware tactics. Since this is an on-device AI model, it does use your system's resources, so it's enabled by default only on devices with at least 2GB of RAM and four CPU cores. You can find more details in the Microsoft Mechanics video here.
