I was never sure what and why Sony released this.Thanks For starters.. it has an integrated network port on the back whereas the the original PS2 had an additional accesory you had to buy and install on the rear of the unit. FFXI, GT4 (to save photos, but you can save those on any USB drive), SOCOM 3 (for downloadable content, but you can also save those in any USB drive). Actually it is alot easier to use the Swap Disc method to play backups. All you need is little clips that cost $10 and the Swap Magic Disc. No need to open the unit or void your warranty. No need to open the unit or void your warranty. I was speaking in reference to actually installing a mod chip. Swap methods are a PITA, IMO. Gotta go with whatever works though I guess.
