I'm new to this....can someone enlighten me what this is, and how it works and what you get If you solve it? o_O

PRIZES: One (1) Grand Prize: A trip to ??the ultimate vista??, awarded as excursion on the Rocketplane XP Vehicle (The Rocketplane XP Vehicle is a four-seat fighter-sized vehicle fitted with a delta wing and a V-tail which provide good flight characteristics both subsonically and supersonically. c. ??Alienware Gaming PC?? Prize, consisting of an Alienware Gaming Computer AMD based desktop PC, equipped with Windows Vista, a 30?? widescreen monitor, a Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 web cam, Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007, a Microsoft Zune digital media player, and three (3) Microsoft Games for Windows game titles. ARV: $8,500.

Seventy Five (75) Second Prizes: Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (ARV: $399) and Sponsor??s Choice of one (1) of the following three devices: A Microsoft Zune digital media player (ARV: $250, twenty five (25) awarded), a Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console (ARV: $399, twenty five (25) awarded) or an iRiver Clix digital media player (ARV: $199, twenty five (25) awarded).

One Hundred and Fifty (150) Third Prizes: Sponsor??s Choice of one of the following software packages: Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (ARV: $399, seventy five (75) awarded) or a copy of Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 (ARV: $679, seventy five (75) awarded).

Inverting the colors helps to bring out the watermark...not sure what the symbol is however...

Its the same image.. just turned around in some of them.. Looks to me like the one in the knife photo is someone playing a saxaphone...

Doesnt' look relevant...

I'm still trying to figure out why people are delving into vague "clues" like these "watermarks" that may or may not be relevant when there is a clear puzzle element (the numbers) that doesn't have an explanation. Focus on what you're given, people. :)

As to the cipher...

Chapter, Paragraph, Word and Letter wouldn't matter in a different printing of a novel would it?

Only Page and Line would be off.

Except that this type of code is almost always done by page ... not to mention that not every picture has all four elements.

Only Page and Line would be off.

Actually it would.. Alot of books are re-edited years after they are released. So some versions of books have entire sections added or even removed...
