IGDELI, Hakkari

Just submitted: Lorelei Odessa Kara Igdeli

OK lets asume that the answer are personal names. Also from the last video and other clues

lets take that they were born in Japan, then how Odessa fits as a Japanese name ?

Does Odessa have any meaning in Japanese ?

Just in case it helps -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_names

Yeah it doesnt sound like we are going to get an immediate answer to the question. Sounds to me like they are going to wait this one out until Tuesday or so.. then send out the winning email to the first person that keeps the right answer on his/her account..

Lots of people will probably claim to have typed in the right answer, but that they changed it to something else...

Anyone news about the folks who vanished from seattle yesterday? Have they been recovered?

Maybe if any of them had a GPS, that would give the "mystery spot" :p

I have a feeling that we're missing something relating to the "I" name... very nice work everyone though! That room with a view puzzle was AMAZING! :D

Two things:

1. Are we sure the directions are right (up, down, left, right)?

2. Nothing too significant, but I noticed the names seem to be in order. First we got on_the_run (lorelei), then collectionplate (odessa), then more_answers (kara), then roamingroaming (i???). At first I was thinking that kara would be wrong, since they already gave us kitsune, but because they seem to be in order, kara is probably right.

You can asume that Kitsune is the family or last name.

anyone tried using santa cruz, ca mystery sport as starting point?

I hope they release them soon, I am sure they have to go to work tomorrow :-)

I believe it puts you somewhere down by the mouth of the Mississippi (New Orleans). Although I haven't got a good map measuring tool.

Has anyone found a program/site that lets you accurately measure horizontal/vertical distances? I was using google earth and it seems to not take into account the curvature of the earth (and it's hard to keep the line straight). Probably have Mappoint around here somewhere... if I can find the CD :p

Edit: I'd try Live Maps, but it usually crashes internet explorer.. lol

Just had another random thought... In the rabbit's trail puzzle, the solution was not at the end of the trail, but rather at one of the other points (halfway through or something). It could be the same for this one. Although there is an extra limitation that she can only direct us one of four directions... hmm :s

google earth seems to, or at least the line that the ruler draws follows the curvature of the earth...

If Tanli, China is the mystery spot, then the directions lead to Inari, Japan.

The problem is, they don't seem to (unless our interpretation of her glasses is wrong).

Tanli:

http://www.traveljournals.net/explore/chin...4025/tanli.html

Latitude: 29.8 N

Longitude: 117.45 E

Inari:

http://www.fallingrain.com/world/JA/6/Inari.html

Latitude: 35.8833 N

Longitude: 136.3500 E

For this to be possible, it would have to be telling us to go NE (up, right) instead of SE (down, right).

Edit: Added N & E to coordinates

I went off on a tangent. I used loki and changed it to Loci which is a focal point. Looking up the definition loci is the plural of locus, which is the place where dna is on a gene.

"A genetic locus is truly a miniscule existence - a position of a single gene amongst the thousands - yet its an essential contribution. We are all like that... each of us play a small role and yet without any one of us - the information is simply not complete.

Above all, the locus is a place and this - the V-locus - is my place..."

Kind of sounds like the video.

So i put in the four amino acids which make up DNA. Kind of off, but that's what I thought of.

Everyone seems to agree that Odessa is the "O" in L.O.K.I. However, I have to wonder why they gave us the coat of arms of "Odessa Oblast" (ie. the province) rather than just "Odessa" which has a less elaborate coat of arms (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odessa).

According to Wikipedia, Odessa Oblast is known by the single word Odeshchyna. Could that be the O name we're looking for?

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
    • I have been using Firefox for years.
    • I'd trust open source stuff on github more then closed source binaries from Microsoft.
