Funniest/weird/sad things on Neowin

OMH: Never knew about this <snipped> character.

I just remember the Pink Panther, his weird threads, how he would just go straight on the attack, and what a lil kid he is.

And then the fun and games a bunch of us had afterwards with our little sigs - oh funny days!

Hehe, oh yeah i almost forgot about him. Wonder what he is doing now... I wonder if he even still goes to Neowin under a different name? :shiftyninja:

The funniest thing has to be the reply to a thread...look in my sig..its the one about using boiling butter for lube.

The most annoying thing here are certain bungholes.. . you know who you are... i believe its called small man syndrome.

Who remembers <snipped> and his fetish for younger girls (ie: underage) and his posts about his 'girlfriends' parents warning him to stay away.

Wow, I'm impressed. You don't even know this person, there's no way you even know the whole story, and you're kicking a banned person while they're down with no way to defend themselves. Good job assuming you know what his situation was. I don't know him either, but that's crossing a line. I don't care that this is your site and you're the admin, and this member is a banned one not here any more, that's not the point. What you said about him is so unacceptable and unprofessional as an administrator. This is not an example you should be setting for your other members.

Wow, so:

1) Defending someone who you don't know

2) Questioning someone over something they claim to know about and you claim not to know about

3) Telling Neobond how to run his site!

I am not a kiss-up here (far from it), but if you don't like how the owner of the site does something, um, well, not really much you can do is there!

I kinda think your reply fits nicely into this thread! LOL:

Noob members who attack respected members over things they clearly have no knowledge over!

Oh, so just because he's staff he has every right to bend/break his own rules and people MUST respect him? I believe respect is earned and not given. I wouldn't care if he was God or Jesus or the president themselves. I may be out of line, but he was too. No, I don't know the story with the member he brings up, but neither does he. He doesn't know him either and that doesn't make it right for him to play guessing games.

Oh, so just because he's staff he has every right to bend/break his own rules and people MUST respect him?

Dooooh, yes. This little corner of cyberspace is his. None of us have to be here, and we can leave any time we please.

Im not to sure what your problem is, but let it drop.

No ****.

Not really a problem, per se, just find it funny he'd do a thing like that when he doesn't even know the person (yea, yea, I don't either). Oh well. I guess that's what makes the internet fun, isn't it? Hiding behind anonymity, eh?

Sorry for hijacking the topic and ranting in it. D'oh, indeed.

Well from what he said, those accusations are an accepted fact on Neowin. I doubt he'd say it unless he knew that other members would remember and back up those claims. I doubt you'd have a clue. He obviously does because he was there when whatever threads/PMs happened.

So umm, I can't see any rules broken by his post, can anyone else?

Oh, and I wouldn't expect you to respect or be respected by anyone here yet, but for long standing members it's a bit different.

Back on topic....some of the mods here are funny/weird/sad but I can't think of much else.

If this issue causes you sleepless nights i suggest you PM' him. Im sure he will be happy to fill you in on what ever the reasoning behind any actions he has had on the subject.

Apart from the fact that staff actions are not to be questioned on the boards, not because its a dictatorship, but because if every one that had a problem with a staff action or choice the site would become less of a news and tec site and more of a whingers forum, so you are always entitled to question any issue and or action, but by pm only..

Hope you understand.

How can you claim Neobond doesn't know all about <snipped>? You have no basis for making that claim! I am not claiming he does, but he shows a knowledge of him, that I have no reason to question.

And do we have to do as Neobond says? Not, not in the least - we are free to leave HIS site at any time we please.

On topic: Persephone is weird. And she smells of gerbils! But I love her all the same ;)

No, that's just it. There is no fact or truth in it. It's all assumptions unless the aforementioned member was able to confirm or deny the allegations. Staff members aren't always right in everything either. Let's just move along now.

Dude, I have been here longer than I look. I don't need the manual quoted to me. Thanks. And I all ready said it doesn't bother me at all. Humors me, actually. Let's not make this topic the one to be funny/weird/sad, ha ha.

On a site this big, do you think Steven would take the time to personally get to know any members? Just because he'd say whatever he said about him doesn't mean it's true. He just shows an assumption about him.

Drop it, let it go.

On topic please!

definitely the using melted butter as lube thread lol

p.s. Weebis - you drop it..lol you started it!

Also when people say: Dont need anti virus..i use common sense.... because i should actually be I have common sense i use anti virus!

That thread was funny as hell, I loved that... I think that thread easily can be the most funny, while sad and weird post ever

or may be I need to look more  or may be I need to get a life...

arent you assuming that neobond doesnt know this guy personally? didnt you assume that neobond doesnt know any of these statements as a fact? im not saying your wrong but im just pointing out the fact that you made this statement on assumptions of your own mate... for all you know these two could be next door neighbours and from what ive heard anyway, i dont think this guy was very secretive about what neobond said about him in the first place!

i couldnt help but get my say in on this matter... please dont shoot me :(

LOL, you're okay, dude. From my research, the one guy lives in the USA, and Neobond lives in the UK? Across countries. Most likely that they don't know each other. Aye, maybe not secretive, but what if he was looking for advice on something, and someone wanted to be an arse and turn it around into something it isn't. I'm done with this now.

Anyway...

Who's this Pink Panther guy and what did he do? Was he like Scoobie? :shiftyninja:

Speaking of <snipped>.... This thread https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=278150 is hilarious! He comes back and is all apologetic and such... And the thread is celebrating his 1000th post... But he's banned with only 1000 posts! Which I read being banned because of that thread! Edited by Fred Derf
Who's this Pink Panther guy and what did he do?

I love you for asking that. You just opened a can of worms that makes me giggle whenever I hear it!

OK, so he was a 14 year old kid, who made psosts like this:

1) I stayed off school today to masturbate over web pr0n. Am I weird? Do I do it too much?

2) I like {insert band}, but now my mate is into them - I liked them first, and he is just pretending, I hate him

He'd make comments like "If your parents ever saw you naked, you'd be in such trouble.", "I am the most mature person anyone has ever met. My teacher says so"...

When I said accepted as fact, I mean as in that member alluded to such behaviour on this forum. But yeah arguing on the internet, can't be bothered.

Pink Panther - now he loved arguing on the internet lol. He behaved like he had an autistic spectrum disorder - I don't mean that in a flame bait/take the **** out of the handicapped way either.

    • OpenAI's new GPT-5.5-Cyber tops Claude Mythos 5 in vulnerability benchmark by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI today announced a major expansion of Daybreak, a cybersecurity initiative designed to help defenders find, validate, and fix software vulnerabilities earlier in the development process. The availability of powerful AI models has definitely changed the cybersecurity landscape by making vulnerability discovery much faster. However, the bigger bottleneck for the industry is now patching those vulnerabilities. Impacted software teams need to validate the discovered issues, understand their impact, develop fixes, test them, and deploy patches. Back in March, OpenAI launched a preview of Codex Security, which uses agentic reasoning with automated validation to discover high-impact issues and actionable fixes specific to the codebase. Since then, it has scanned more than 30 million commits across over 30,000 codebases; more than 70,000 findings were marked as fixed by human reviewers, while over 500,000 findings were automatically determined to be fixed. Now, OpenAI is releasing an updated Codex Security plugin that can run deep scans, review recent code changes, generate security reports, trace attack paths, validate findings, and create codebase-specific patches for human review. It can also triage findings from existing scanners, advisories, bug bounty reports, and ticketing systems. OpenAI says the plugin can export results to vulnerability management systems and integrate with workflows using SARIF files, CodeQL queries, the Codex CLI, and the Codex app. Back in May, OpenAI announced the preview of GPT-5.5-Cyber, a new model built on top of the recently released GPT-5.5, designed for specialized cybersecurity work. Today, OpenAI launched the full version of GPT-5.5-Cyber through a limited release for verified defenders. On CyberGym, GPT-5.5-Cyber scored 85.6%, compared with 81.8% for GPT-5.5 and 83.8% for Claude Mythos 5. It also scored 39.5% on ExploitGym, compared with 25.95% for GPT-5.5, and 69.8% on SEC-bench Pro, compared with 63.1%. OpenAI also announced the new Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, which will allow security vendors and service providers to use GPT-5.5 with Trusted Access for Cyber in their products and services. Accenture, Akamai, Cisco, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, Proofpoint, SentinelOne, Wiz, Zscaler, and others were listed as initial partners for this program. OpenAI is also launching Patch the Planet with Trail of Bits, HackerOne, Calif, researchers, and maintainers. More than 30 open-source projects have committed to participate, including cURL, Go, Python, Sigstore, and pyca/cryptography.
    • AMD confirms 26.6.2 FSR driver breaks on many Windows PCs by Sayan Sen Earlier today AMD released a major graphics driver update as it brings support for FSR 4.1 to Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs. The new update, version 26.6.2, also brings support for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and more. And while the driver technically supports Windows 10 version 21H2 and newer, the tech giant has confirmed that there is a major issue with the new driver on non-Windows 11 PCs as it fails to launch properly on such systems. The error message says, "The version of AMD Software that you have launched is not compatible with your currently installed AMD graphics driver." Therefore on the surface it looks like a compatibility problem. AMD has also confirmed that the device manager will display the yellow bang or yellow exclamation sign alongside your GPU under the Display adapters dropdown. Here is what the Radeon team's official advisory recommends to affected users: "Users Running Windows 10 and AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 May Encounter Yellow Bang in Device Manager Affecting AMD Radeon RX Series Graphics ... Our Engineers are currently investigating this issue and will provide a fix once it is available. Affected users may revert to AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1 as a temporary workaround." As such you should revert back to the previous 26.6.1 driver which was released earlier this month. In case you were looking to play Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations you will probably have to wait a while if you want the driver to support those games officially. You can find the support article here on Microsoft's website.
