Funniest/weird/sad things on Neowin

Recommended Posts

Wow, I'm impressed. You don't even know this person, there's no way you even know the whole story, and you're kicking a banned person while they're down with no way to defend themselves. Good job assuming you know what his situation was. I don't know him either...

Well, the situation he posted about was a thread somewhere on here at some time. Do we need more than the information from the person's mouth itself? He had an underage-girl fetish and he said so. I'm pretty sure we know more about than you, since we were here for it. Like you said, it's not like you know him either.

Well from what he said, those accusations are an accepted fact on Neowin. I doubt he'd say it unless he knew that other members would remember and back up those claims. I doubt you'd have a clue. He obviously does because he was there when whatever threads/PMs happened.

So umm, I can't see any rules broken by his post, can anyone else?

Oh, and I wouldn't expect you to respect or be respected by anyone here yet, but for long standing members it's a bit different.

Back on topic....some of the mods here are funny/weird/sad but I can't think of much else.

I think what Weebis means is that Truten was banned for breaking no rules, but instead because he was disliked by member(s?) of staff. Acting on personal feelings when no rules have been broken at all - is unprofessional. The staff of Neowin can do as they please, however doing so in this manner may be exposing major personality flaws.

From <snipped>'s 1000th post, he contributes almost 2000 kind words thanking Neowin and it's community and then the response goes something like:

Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks. And then Keldyn closes the thread with the comment:

"You've had your moment Ryan. Time to put this one to rest." And then Truten is banned. The word 'dodgy' comes to mind...

I thought that was kind of odd, as well. However, given the experience I have had with the staff here, I don't think any of them would be that petty.

Dodgy has nothing to do with it... the background on why we banned him was extensive... and we dont' discuss other members status... but suffice it to say we had more than enough reason to ban him.

Does anyone remember that "WilliamHook" dude who kept on going on about Neowin 5?

I remember him making a forum called "William Hook Forums", (as if you'd make a forum under your own name!).

I think he got banned, after being really annoying :p

got 'im https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showuser=94138

Members always think that others were banned for a specific comment or post. Typically, however, they were just the straw that broke the camel's back. Such a decision may very well have been contemplated for weeks prior to their implementation.

found it!

here's his first thread... look at the times of the posts..

Anybody remember Power User?, that theme kicked ass.

Then there was the thread about how to clean sperm off a graphics card. :|

Well, if you saw the graphics card, you would know why.

And what else do you use as thermal paste if you're all out?

Dude... That girl in his photo can't be older than 13/14 (see attachment) :x. It's just so wrong. I can't believe the mods have never deleted it -- it's clearly jailbait :ninja:.

    • This is listed as a preview in WU for me. I usually don't grab them as previews; what's your opinion on it so far?
