I'm dual booting with XP and installed Vista Business yesterday. No gliches or problems. I'm just wondering with all the accolades and hype given towards the build up of Vista being such a breakthrough for Windows for graphics and the other visually appealing Aero. What in the **** were the designers thinking of when they went from the boot.ini of XP to the bcdedit of Vista. No it isn't a big deal in the big picture, but I keep thinking I'm still using 95 or having a DOS flashback when Vista boots up. Could it have been that difficult to have added some type of color or wallpaper theme for the front door here. Not to even mention the boot screen has no nothing but a rolling marquee and a black screen. Thanks for letting me vent.......

More graphically rich bootscreens would only increase boot times. As computers continue to get faster, and especially once hybrid hard drives become more common, boot times will decrease dramatically enough that you won't see these screens for long at all (think a second or less).

It's also a case of lead by example, as Microsoft wants computer makers to get rid of the advertisement screens on bootup, such as the Dell bootup screen or the big nVidia logo on some computers, and so on.
