R6031 Visual C++ Runtime Error

Recommended Posts

Well... I got myself a legit Vista Business from MSDNAA and i decided to reinstall my laptop from XP Pro to Vista.

In order to get things running without problems i decided to format all my partitions. Fresh start..

The setup went by quite fast.. After that he started checking my laptops speed. Done, login screen..

I logged in and... Auch Error Messages....

To be precise:

R6031

- Attempt to initialize the CRT more than once.

This indicates a bug in your application.

A bug in the application, right? Do you believe that?!

Explorer.exe went down, losing the startmenu bar. The sidebar and the desktop is still alive, but the desktop image is gone.

I did ctrl+alt+delete and went to the task manager, from where i relaunched 'Explorer.exe'. Ah there's the startmenu again... And the error, and there goes the start menu..

A few restarts and tries later, tried various switches.. The only one working is safe mode, but that doesn't support Windows Update for example...

So i reinstalled it, and it's everything once over again..

It really makes me wondering why.

This problem is very uncommon, especially in combination with Vista.

Anyone experienced this too, or maybe someone has some answers or solutions for me.

Thanks
