IE7 should remain a forced update only because of its improved security and web standards.

I agree. If only because of the many people who are 'happily' browsing the web without a care in the world and potentialy pick up all kinds of nasty stuff in the process, simply because they are ( completely ) ignorant of online security. This will at least offer them a bit more security.

what you say is true, but because of those people, i have a job :) I make money of off windows incompetance (kidding, seriously, don't want be to flamed to death, not trying to troll). But yeah, i think it shouild be optional if anything.

Finally they made one smart move.

I think the reasons are simple.

1) Businesses- IE7 can and has caused so many issues in business environments running apps that need IE6

2) Consumers- Once again lots of software not liking IE7

3) IE7 does not always install right and can cause certain sites not to do properly and only removing fixes it atm. Or that is how it was a week or so ago

So for now I have been removing on every PC I work on. If the customers wants it back fine but I strictly warn against it for all businesses, unless they can first verify their programs are compatiable(aka does not need IE6)

If programmers weren't so lazy these days we would not have all these dependancies. Or would it be more correct in saying there are too many lazy programmers.

I know why, at work we have seen at least 20 machines complete windows update and then to fall down on the restart. This can be annoying when you've just completed a full reload of windows with drivers, software, activating windows. We came to the conclusion that it was IE7 ruining some installs, some were fine but others had to just be reloaded again as XP was trashed and BSoDing on restart in a loop.

Ah yes, alot of people, meaning you and your boyfriend.

What the hell is wrong with IE 7? Firefox is a memory leaking, crash prone POS when compared to IE 7, and don't get me started about it running on Windows Vista!

I think it will take quite a bit of time before people are used to the new interface of IE7.

      Looks a very subjective aren't they!? I like its simple design. I love the way Apple designs their products with function over form, minimalization, and simplicity over cluttered complex designs. Many, not all, of their products follow this trend, and the device becomes a tool rather than dominating the space. I do not however like their OS. I have never bought a Apple product, and while I'd consider the Neo for my wife, I am hoping there are better alternatives out there when her failing MacBook Pro 2017 finally stops. Fischer-Price is famously plastic, garish, and poorly made. Basically you're describing the Window Laptops the Neo competes against!       Isn't that true for every codec? I remember having to buy a PCI MPEG-2 decoder card just so I could play DVDs on my computer back in the late 90s. AV1 support is still fairly new.

      I'm no Apple fan, and have never bought an Apple product for myself. But I'd argue that where you think Apple is behind regarding an OLED display, that the vast majority of people out there wouldn't even know or care for an OLED. Apple have struck the balance well to create a price point that works, and I hope that PC manufactures, and Microsoft take notice. I'd argue that Asus will struggle to compete with the Neo BECAUSE they put in a more expensive OLED that many people won't actually notice with its deeper blacks. Most people wouldn't care either that their screen is stuck at 60Hz! When I bought a 4k monitor (future proof and for the space), my laptop could only push that out at 30Hz, and it worked fine for my needs for 1.5 years! Heck, the average human eye can't see more than 90Hz in many situations!! So while they are trying to differentiate themselves, and it may well gain them a few customers, for the most part, I think they're missing the point of what the Neo is for.

      I disagree. Boomer execs only want one thing; money money money. The original fans of the series want a specific reboot that focuses on the vibe and feel of the original series. Boomers don't want that because then they can't have a 8 to 9 figure return. This was canceled because of greed.
