ie7 removed from windows update

Recommended Posts

I think it will take quite a bit of time before people are used to the new interface of IE7.

You're right, I was umming and arring installing it, but once installed and I was used to the idea of the layout, I was satisfied once I got used to it.

Firefox 3.0 will be interesting though; hopefully if they fix the memory leaks, integrate Cairo well - hopefully using 1.4 by then which has significant performance improvement over the Cairo 1.2 series.

I'm not anti-Firefox, just a bloody ****ed off end user who has seen very little done to improve the experience for Windows Vista and MacOS X users.

Finally they made one smart move.

I think the reasons are simple.

1) Businesses- IE7 can and has caused so many issues in business environments running apps that need IE6

I agree 100%. IE7 has caused me SOOOO much trouble here at the plant because it breaks several web application we have. People were installing it because it was a critical update, then they call me (because of afore mentioned broken apps) and I have to remove it

I formatted my computer 3 times in a week, and the last time--windows update never installed or asked to isntall IE7. I was like "hmm, just one of those random errors that happens." But I like this. People at home hated IE7. I use firefox, so it doesnt affect me one bit.

Ah yes, alot of people, meaning you and your boyfriend.

What the hell is wrong with IE 7? Firefox is a memory leaking, crash prone POS when compared to IE 7, and don't get me started about it running on Windows Vista!

already there baiter, i like IE7. It's just that all my customers at work hate it. I dunno why can't they just release it with the IE6 Interface. You have no idea how many elderly people ask me where the favourites are, and what happened to the toolbar. The interface is nice, but it's not that user friendly.

I will also agree that alot of people hate IE 7 with a passion, they have to reolize that most people aren't that computer smart, and are lucky to be able to finally learn how to do anything. Then Once they finally learn Microsoft goes and does a drastic change to the UI of internet explorer to the point where they can't find anything, I don't think I've had one customer that actually said anything good about internet explorer.

I think this is bad on Microsoft's part. IE 7 is much better than IE 6 with security, features and user interface (in my opinion).

If they only put it as optional, many people who do not currently have IE 7 and who do not know much about technology will not install this new important update to IE!

They should leave it at critical until everyone gets it.

BTW, in reply to this:

Yes, like everyone else, IE7 is ridiculous, and has way too many bugs for a commercial browser, but its still a damn sight better than IE6

I don't know what you mean. What bugs are there in IE 7? I have been using IE 7 since November and have NEVER come across any bugs. I am now running it on Vista and have not had any bugs.

Overall I am happy with my IE experience and I think EVERYBODY should download the new update.

I don't mind IE7 but it crashes constantly on my pc with XP. It crashed atleast 5 times today. It sucks so bad.

And if they *CHOOSE* not to read up and *LEARN* how to use the new software then whose fault is it?

If they choose to be ignorant, its their own problem, not Microsoft's or anyone elses.

bad move on Microsoft's part. IE7 should remain as a critical update so the noobs don't get spyware as much.

When there's a will there's a way. There are people dumb enough to still download any file they see. The strongest firewall in the world is still no match for stupidity.

Sheesh. Microsoft cleans up the interface and allows all normal commands to be done without a menu and people complain. The cure to that is keep IE7 on there, explain to people where their favorites and print button are and let them be. People hate change but complain when there is no change. Go figure.

    • Yes, Scoop was created to promote Coreutils for Windows. You can still see early versions of their website on the Web Archive. It was a joke that nobody took seriously. Microsoft's implementation of Coreutils, however, are built in Rust.
    • Looks like EA's Star Wars Zero Company will be out this August by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Over a year ago, EA surprise announced that a team of former Firaxis members is working on a brand-new Star Wars game. Dubbed Zero Company, the title would have XCOM-like turn-based tactics gameplay as players manage a squad of professionals from all over the galaxy. Now, just ahead of an official announcement, it looks like the release date has leaked out. The upcoming Summer Game Fest presentation on Friday is when EA is supposed to show off the title's gameplay footage, with fans also expecting it to reveal a release date. However, the ever-reliable billbil-kun from Dealabs says they have already managed to find out when the game is coming out and what versions fans will have the option of purchasing. Per the leak, Star Wars Zero Company has an August 27, 2026, release date attached to it. The title is slated to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with a $49.99 standard and $59.99 Deluxe edition. The leaker also adds that there won't be any early access perk attached to this special edition. Pre-orders could kick off alongside the official announcement this Friday, too. For those unfamiliar with the title, Bit Reactor is developing Star Wars Zero Company with help from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. The EA-published title is said to be set during the "twilight of the Clone Wars." We will have to wait and see if base building and management mechanics from the XCOM series will be present here, too. "You will step into the shoes of Hawks, a former Republic officer who leads Zero Company — an unconventional outfit of professionals for hire hailing from across the galaxy," reads the game description. "Hawks and Zero Company are recruited for an operation that pits them against an emerging threat that will consume the galaxy if left unchecked. To succeed, Hawks will lead a team of uneasy allies who must set aside their differences to overcome nearly impossible odds." You can catch the Star Wars Zero Company extended gameplay reveal at the Summer Game Fest showcase that's kicking off on Friday at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET.
    • All their other games always had a new cast and new story, so that's not very surprising. The new dev is worrisome though.
    • New dev usually means more trash. I also despise that they censored the 1 remake.
