Help with the initial config of zFTPServer

Question

Hi all.

I"m a new user (and a fan ) of zFTPServer. First lemme explain my situation.

I'm running XP SP2 here (no firewall) behind a linksys router. I already configured my router to foward port 3145 to both direction TCP and UDP, but till now, i can't use zFTPServer.

Every time i start the program, i get a error screen.

All i want, is start configure my site bla bla. ... how can i fix that ??

Note, that i can't click on the options "server configuration" or any other config, i can't click on that buttons.

So your trying to connect the PUBLIC IP from the private side??? This is a loopback forward -- and many a router have issues with this.. Connect to the PRIVATE IP, or private dns name, ie localhost, somehost.local.lan (whatever your local dns might be).. Or put a record in your machines host file to point whatever.myftp.org to your machines private IP -- 192.168.x.x

See how it defaults to localhost

If you what to use some dyndns that resolves to a PUBLIC IP -- then with many a soho router you need to be on the PUBLIC side coming in.. Not on the private side -- hitting the public IP -- just so it can forward you back into the same machine you can from!

If you want to admin the server using the PUBLIC IP, then be on the public side of your router ;)

BTW: you do understand that 3145 is just the admin port for the server.. That is not the ports you need to forward on your router for outside people to be able to FTP. Unless you plan on admin the server from outside your firewall - there would be no point to forwarding this port.
