Why Dogs Chase Cats

retold by

Lechio

Once long ago, Dog was married to Cat. They were happy together, but every night when Dog came home from work, Cat said she was too sick to make him dinner. Dog was patient with this talk for a while, but he soon got mighty tired of fixing dinner for them both after a hard day's work. After all, Cat just stayed home all day long.

One day, Dog told Cat he was going to work, but instead he hid in the cupboard and watched Cat to see if she really was sick. As soon as Cat thought Dog had left, she started playing games with Kitten. They laughed and ran about. Cat wasn't the least bit sick.

Dog jumped out of the cupboard. When Cat saw him, she stuck a marble in her cheek and told Dog she had a toothache. Dog got so mad at her he started chasing her around and around the house.

Dogs have been chasing Cats ever since.

The Wampus Cat

retold by

Lechio

They say that the Wampus cat used to be a beautiful Indian woman. The men of her tribe were always going on hunting trips, but the women had to stay home. The Indian woman secretly followed her husband one day when he went hunting with the other men. She hid herself behind a rock, clutching the hide of a mountain cat around her, and spied on the men as they sat around their campfires telling sacred stories and doing magic.

According to the laws of the tribe, it was absolutely forbidden for women to hear the sacred stories and see the tribe's magic. So when the Indian woman was discovered, the medicine man punished her by binding her into the mountain cat skin she wore and then transforming her into a terrible monster - half woman and half mountain cat. Ever after she was doomed to roam the hills, howling desolately because she desires to return to her normal body.

A man was hunting one night with his dogs when they both whimpered and ran off the path. At that moment, the woods were overpowered with a horrible smell like that of a wet animal that had fallen into a bog after it messed with a skunk. Then something howled on the path behind him and the man whirled around, dropping his rifle. His heart pounding with fear, the man found himself staring into the big, glowing yellow eyes of the Wampus Cat. The creature had huge fangs dripping with salvia. It looked kind of like a mountain lion, but it was walking upright like a man. Then it howled, and the man's skin nearly turned inside out in horror.

With a scream of terror, the man leapt backwards and ran as fast as he could through the woods, the Wampus Cat on his heels. He fled to the home of a friend who lived nearby, and burst through the front door only a breath ahead of the creature. His friend slammed the door in the face of the Wampus Cat. Instantly, it started shuddering under the weight of the attacking monster. The man's friend grabbed his Bible and started reading aloud from the Psalms. Upon hearing the holy words, the Wampus Cat howled in frustration and then slowly abandoned its attack and went back into the woods.

The man spent the rest of the night at his friend's place. When he went home at daybreak, he found his dogs huddled in the barn, shaken but still alive. The man never hunted after dark again.

Puss turns out to be an extraordinary talking cat, and so, Jacques and Puss set off to help Jacques achieve his dreams of wealth and true love. Along the way, they encounter Princess Genevieve, with whom Jacques falls in love, and an ogre named Egor, who holds the title of Marquis de Carabas and claims to be the wealthiest creature in the world. Egor also wishes to marry a beautiful princess, and in exchange for an expensive, fancy cape, the clever Puss promises to help Egor as well. Egor does not realize that Puss is actually scheming to help Jacques outwit the ogre and seize his title and his fortune! Meanwhile, Princess Genevieve and her Father, King Louis, are walking in the forest on their way to meet Jacques. Puss tells them that Jacques is the Marquis de Carabas, and invites them to dinner at his castle nearby. Puss goes ahead of the others to meet Egor, who is expecting Puss to bring him his Princess, but Puss tells Egor that another man is approaching his castle, claiming to be the Marquis de Carabas. Furious, Egor wants to kill the impostor, but Puss, always full of ideas, encourages Egor to challenge the impostor with magic. A showdown ensues between Jacques and Egor, while the princess, the king, and Puss look on. In a fortunate twist of fate, Egor, who is not careful enough with his magic, turns himself into a rat! Puss seizes the moment, pounces on the rat, and eats it! With Egor gone, Jacques is free to take the hand of the princess, win the title of Marquis de Carabas, and all the riches, thanks to his sly feline friend, Puss in Boots!

    • Remarkably based article from Garter - apparently there IS someone working there that actually understands mainframe systems.
    • Calling it TDS doesn’t answer the question: why did this site skip prior UFC games but review this one, at this exact political moment?
    • Its the timing of its release, mixed with the timing of the review mixed with the timing of the event, when this site never reviewed previous iterations of this game that I could find.
    • Instagram just got "a long-requested feature" by Hamid Ganji Instagram has finally added a new feature that has been "long-requested" and it allows users to write an individual caption for each image or video in a carousel. The feature will start rolling out this week, and it’ll be available to all users. Previously, Instagram only allowed a single caption for all regular posts and carousels. This made it harder for content creators to describe every scene in a carousel and often forced them to write longer captions. However, with this new feature, every slide in a carousel can have its own caption, which can be viewed by swiping left or right. To use the feature, when writing a caption for your post, select “Multiple captions” from the dropdown menu in the caption area. You can then write unique captions for each slide. By swiping through the carousel and selecting individual slides, a dedicated space for writing captions will appear. Instagram says the feature will help audiences get the right context at the right moment. The ability to assign a unique caption to each slide in a carousel could be particularly useful for content creators and brands on the platform. Instagram says the feature will begin rolling out this week. The new feature appears to have been well received by Instagram users, many of whom have been requesting it for a long time. However, users are now asking for additional features, such as the ability to add new slides to a carousel after it has been published. Instagram has been introducing several useful features lately, but users who want access to additional tools and perks can subscribe to the platform’s Instagram Plus offering. Priced at $3.99 per month, Instagram Plus includes exclusive features such as 48-hour Stories, more detailed post analytics, and the ability to tailor posts or Stories to specific audiences. The subscription includes 11 new features in total.
