annoying thing about vlc - subs can't appear in the black area below the movie which appears when playing widescreen movies in full screen mode.... vlc site admin: "it is very complex since, we have to Rework all the Video Out. So no, it is not planned yet."

annoying thing about gom - "GOM Player doesn't support languages that are displayed from right to left, and we do not have immediate plans to support them at this point."

ffdshow + mpc, no other choice for me..

Works better when forwarding through videos (faster and no breakup of the image). Looks a lot nicer out of the box. I've never even scratched the surface of VLC regarding it's advanced features, I just want a player that works well and looks good, and this fits the bill nicely.

Which languages are read from right to left in video release? I know some Asian texts are, but for video they are read from left to right.

Thanks but can someone still answer my question?

I am going to connect my laptop straight to my tv and I do have high-def videos. How do I set up GOM Player to play the videos in high-def on the tv?

Also.. howcome .mkv files don't play well in GOM Player?

I might try this player out. I recently tried out KMPlayer and I'm very happy with it. Is it easy to put the player in full screen mode? Anyone know how to do that with Windows Media Player 11? I always get the widescreen borders. I've been trying to find out forever! Where's the damn option to set it to 4:3?? lol

I'm not sure I understand the question... As long as your Laptop is set with the TV as the output, then you should be able to play the videos on the TV.

Right click on the video (or click on the "GOM" Icon in the top left) -> Aspect ratio -> 4:3(TV)

There are a huge amount of options in the context menu.

Shortcut = ctrl+f7

Or, if you meant zoom to get rid of bars, use the pan and scan options.

I Have been using GOM as my primary video player for ages now, the only codecs I have installed are quicktimeALT, and realALT. My favorite video player ever.

I am connecting my laptop to the tv and it can play fine. I am asking.. what settings should I use on GOM Player? Like 5.1 audio... or 16:9 (HDTV) or whatever else?

This all depends on the tv, and audio setup you are using. If you have a 5.1 system, then use 5.1 audio, if your screen is a different aspect ratio, you might need to change it. Trial and error is your friend.

I will probably try out Gom, but I'm really loving KMPlayer now that I'm getting a hang of the options. I know this isn't the right thread, but I was asking how to set Windows Media Player 11 to 4:3 aspect ratio? It annoys me how playing videos through it and Media Center always have the black bars. I cannot for the life of me find the video option to change the aspect ratio in Windows Media Player 11. Surely there is one, right??

Yeah. I set it to 16:9 video and 5.1 audio. What other options should I choose?

What output should I choose? Overlay Mixer... VMR9? or something else?

What else?

Don't worry about the renderer, it won't make a big difference. Whichever it defaults to on your machine should work fine.

Memory allows ChatGPT to remember useful details about users, including their preferences, projects, and constraints. Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, ChatGPT can use this context to provide more relevant responses in future chats. OpenAI first launched saved memories in February 2024. That feature allowed users to explicitly ask ChatGPT to save information into its memory, such as travel plans or writing preferences. However, this system had limits because it depended heavily on users giving clear instructions to remember something. Additionally, saved memories could become stale over time. In April 2025, OpenAI expanded memory by allowing ChatGPT to reference past chat context outside the saved memories list. This was powered by a background process called “dreaming,” which automatically curates memories from chat history. This made ChatGPT better at learning from natural conversation without requiring users to manually save every detail. Today, OpenAI announced a more capable and compute-efficient memory architecture built on top of dreaming. This new system improves ChatGPT’s ability to carry forward useful context, follow user preferences, and remain accurate as time passes. According to OpenAI’s internal evaluations, the new system improves factual recall from 67.9% in 2025 to 82.8% in 2026. Preference adherence improves from 55.3% to 71.3%, while accuracy over time improves from 52.2% to 75.1%. The best part of this new system is a new memory summary page where users can review ChatGPT's memories. Users can even update details, correct information, or give instructions on what topics ChatGPT should bring up and when. This new, improved memory system is available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users in the US starting today. It will roll out to more countries, as well as Free and Go users, in the coming weeks.
    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.
