Read the comment near the end:

It's the first media streaming device I could imagine recommending to a non-geek.

I think that's very interesting. And very encouraging. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

And from the Globe And Mail:

Again, we're seeing shades of the iPod here. A murky product category that is simply blown wide open by a smart competitor that addresses ease of use, simple and cool design, over technical complexicty.

Yup. There are better MP3 players out there than the iPod, but it simplifies the whole process and makes it accessible to the largest number of people. My wife got an iPod recently and syncing it up with iTunes was a no-brainer.

I know the AppleTV has its limitations, but I think for the majority of people, it will do what they want, when they want it.

I have to agree...

It's a shame because with some thought a lot of companies that aren't doing so well in these markets could be doing so much better.. it has never been about making the most feature rich product, just about making one that looks nice, is easy to use and does the basics well....

I'm reading a lot of negatives in the PCW article yet they still call it the best. The Media Center Extenders have none or few of those issues and the syncing procedure sounds very much the same.

For instance once you leave the music screen it stops playing, so you can't start it playing then browse further? That's a huge issue even the iPod can do that.
