Microsoft Teases Exclusives

Will the black Elite be around forever, or will it be limited edition as initially thought?

Here's a quote from Channel 10:

Yes, it has HDMI & 120GB hard drive. No, it doesn?t have an HD-DVD player. Yes you can still pull audio separate from the HDMINo, it isn?t going to be a limited edition.
the hard drive is yet again another fuxxin ripoff

120GB for $85.... If MS released for $100 theyd still be making money

Don't forget, they have to take out the hard drive, put it in their own signature case, configure it for the X360, put it in their special packaging, pay the Asians for labor costs, and ship it. So yeah.. that really doesn't add up to $85.

Either way, it's bullsh*t.

If I buy one of these Elite's it won't be for the marketplace as I do not support downloadable content, I want the media so I can watch it whenever, where ever I want.

I'll probably end up keeping my current pro console unless I run out of HDD space that is taken up my in-game additional content.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean you don't "support" downloadable content?

There will not be any quieter DVD drives/fans or cooler chips.

I'd expect the Elite to feature those BenQ drives everyone is raving about, which are apparently both quieter and faster. A lot of the new Premium consoles have had the new drives fitted.

However, the Elite does not boast the 65nm chips that Microsoft has been keen to implement sometime this year. Why they haven't is beyond me, it would have made the Elite a lot more appealing - right now it isn't.

They'll switch over to 65nm chips probably after the initial shipment of Elites is out. I remember hearing that production would shift over to the new die shrink in April, so maybe every 360 made starting in May will be the newer 65nm chips?

Either way, it's coming, they just wanna stretch it out a bit and get rid of any 90nm chips they have in the channel first. I'd guess that come Aug or Nov again we'll get a price drop for both premium and elites to $299 and $399, and if the Core is still around, maybe it'll drop to $199.

on on10.net there is now another exclusive video, but this is some mobile web browser. Here is the 1st paragraph "Sorry to quash the irrational exuberance of suspected Zune and Halo 3 announcements, but this one is still big and you're getting it early. There?s a new web browser in town for Windows Mobile fans that goes by the name Deepfish. It runs technology borrowed from Sea Dragon, the imaging engine behind Photosynth. "

Microsoft................................ ARRRRGHHH! I oh so badly want to strangle you

You will make me shell out $180 for 120 Gigs for my 360 (I believe I can get upwards of like 300 gigs for that price now for a regular external hd and at least 500 gigs internal)

A new web browser? WTF? If it was for Windows and replacing IE... sure that is big... but for WM? WTF? What a jip? i am going to bed. F this

Can you get a 2.5" 120gig laptop drive for under $150.00? I don't think so...

The only people that will benefit from this drive are those that download a lot from the video marketplace. If you don't download from the marketplace there is no need for it.

Western Digital Passport 120GB 2.5" External Hard Drive - Retail

Honestly I didn't even look real hard, you could probably get cheaper thats just the first one that caught my eye that matches the new xbox one.

I disagree with your first point but agree with the second.

This drive is a complete rip-off. If it was around $125 or so, I think that'd be much more reasonable.

There are 3rd party external units for the 360 out there, which let you use any HDD you want. As for those bitching about the 2nd announcment, it's your own damn fault, MS didn't build up the hype on this YOU DID.

Grow up and stop acting like a kid who got cloths for xmas insted of that new game they wanted.

    • I can name 10x that on why not to switch.... It's funny outlook/office are going towards web app wrappers, and then MS is now preaching native apps again.... ugh can we just pick a lane and stay in it
    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
