Microsoft Teases Exclusives

I just bought a 360 used a week or so ago. Premium bundle with extras for $300 Canadian. It's only a month old and still has the reciept. I don't regret that purchase one bit even with this anouncement. I don't think existing 360 owners should regret it either. This is a nice upgrade, but nothing worth getting upset about if you already have a 360.

I do think $200 is quite steep for the new hard drive alone though. It should be $150 max. I can kind of understand why people are upset with that as at that price it's kind of a slap in the face to people that already bought a 360. The 20g is big enough for me though, so I could care less. Maybe I would have picked it up for $150, but they can forget it at $200.

You know the point of buying a console has always to spend less than you would on upgrading your PC to game. Now it looks like that is all gone, these consoles are not even what they used to be.

When you go out and buy a console, you expect your console to be the same as the one your neighbor bought two years later unless it is a peripheral that could be upgraded (Like the Playstation 2 network adapter, or the HDD in the Playstation 3/Xbox 360).

Microsoft didn't include "HDMI" because they thought it wasn't important, but now that they noticed Sony is using it they have to follow.

Microsoft should have an upgrade program for those who already purchased a Premium system and give them a discounted price on the HDD rather than buying a new HDD making the 20GB useless.

This will make my search for a High-Definition TV harder since I will have to either look for a decent TV with 1080p over Component or DVI/VGA. If I bought an HDTV that only accepts 1080p over HDMI, how is that my fault that Microsoft was too lousy to add HDMI from the beginning?

Because you knew full well when you bought your 360 that it didn't have HDMI. Also it is not hard at all to find TV's that accept 1080p over VGA.

I understand your frustration, but really, you knew that going in. Plus it's been pretty much a well known fact for quite some time that MS will probably release an update with HDMI at some point. Hell, Spartan X has been strongly hinting at it for at least 6-8 months and there has been speculation about it long before that. If HDMI is that important to you, you probably should have waited.

What I fail to understand is why so many people are ****ed about this. The elite hardly adds any new functionality not currently lacking in the premium 360 sku.

Yeah, HDMI is nice, but not necessary for the gaming experience.

because its mostly just more wallet rapage by peripheral? tbh i dont really care unless they plan to really make use of the extra space

I agree with the people who are disagreeing with the people who disagree about the price and the whole HDMI capable thing.

I have a HDMI port on my TV but I have failed to see the difference between my Digital Reciever on HDMI and VGA... I now run my DR on component and my 360 on VGA. The only thing I'm getting is the HDD upgrade, and I know people are a bit annoyed at the price, but get over it.

lol same as ps3, but

big price difference lol between standard 2.5 for ps3 and Microsofts 120GB prop one

^^^ Because it's not a standard 2.5" hdd. What do you expect a specific add-on HDD like the one the 360 has would cost? If it was just a normal internal setup like the PS3 then fine, but making it external the way it is adds to the cost.

Once they get rid of any 20GB HDDs they have in the channel though, I expect the 120GB to drop in price, I don't see MS selling 20GB hdds for much longer.

Well it basically is a standard 2.5" HDD in an enclosure. You can buy an external 120GB 2.5" for $90. Either way, Microsoft is making a lot of profit on the thing. I don't know why they priced it so high though. They must realise that people will be using the larger drive to purchase more XBL content such as TV shows and movies. If people aren't willing to pay such a high price for the drive, then there would be a lot less content being bought.

Iv only had my 360 since november but i have to say its good news for all two types of people.

Americans: Since they can buy Films and TV shows on the 360 so they will soon fill the old

Gb HD and,

HD TV owners: since they added HDMI

Since im neither of these im actually going to hold of untill i atleast get a HDTV and then i mite sell my sexy white 360 and get the not so sexy black 360 Elite!

What a bunch of crooks. That upgrade price for the 120 GB HD is ridiculous in all regards.

Although I have always found it immature and lame, I do feel as if the term M$ is truly appropriate for the HD's price.

    • Apple reluctantly forces strict new age checks on Texas users starting today by Paul Hill Apple will begin enforcing the Texas Age Assurance Law (SB 2420) following a recent court ruling that lifted an injunction on SB 2420. Starting June 4 (today), Apple will enforce strict age-verification and parental-consent rules for new Apple accounts created in Texas. This move will affect children under 18 who go to download apps or attempt to make in-app purchases. Apple previously expressed privacy concerns related to this law, but compliance is now mandatory for the company, nevertheless. Apple will use several APIs to follow the law. Principally, the Declared Age Range API will fetch the specific user age bracket (Under 13, 13-15, 16-17, or 18+) and a verification method. The Significant Change API (PermissionKit) will trigger a system dialog for parental consent if an app gets a major update or an age-rating shift. There is also a new property type in StoreKit that allows developers to automatically check when their app’s age rating has changed on a user’s device and then use the Significant Change API to request parental consent. Finally, App Store Server Notifications can be configured to tell developers when a parent revokes consent, blocking app launches. To ensure they are ready for these changes, developers must immediately use Apple’s sandbox testing environment to validate these APIs in their apps. For any developers out there finding this to be inconvenient, get used to it. Other regions, such as Utah, Louisiana, and Brazil, are looking at, or have implemented, similar rules.
    • They should show the onedrive recycle bin in a searchable manner and on app not just on the website
    • You looking at a phone or something? On my 4K HDR monitor it is frikking spectacular.
    • The Surface Pro 7+ already has a USB C port which can be used for everything you mentioned, except for eGPUs. Meanwhile, microsoft have gotten rid of ALL of the following that are present in the Surface Pro 7+:
